Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are back from injury and will come face-to-face today when Barcelona and Real Madrid clash in the Primera Liga's most anticipated encounter at Nou Camp.
Bracelona coach, Pep Guardiola, rested Messi during Barcelona's 2-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan midweek after the Argentine injured his left thigh muscle last week. Madrid's Ronaldo, on his part was back in action for 20minutes midweek against FC Zurich after being sidelined with injury for almost two months.
Ronaldo heads the list of the newcomers who will grace the 155th El-Classico meeting alongside new teammates Ricardo Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Karim Benzema while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to lead the attack for Barcelona.
World Player of the Year, Ronaldo says it is a big game for the Galaticos who enjoyed a point lead over the Blaugrana, but the former Manchester United star insists Real Madrid is ready for the encounter.
"It's difficult to play against them but we also have our own weapons and we're going to do things well so that we can get the win," Ronaldo said. "We want to win in the Camp Nou, and we're going to do things well to give ourselves a chance at victory." The crunch tie will further highlight the debate regarding the best player on the planet is and football fans will be looking forward to seeing some beautiful football on display.
Madrid on a roll
Real Madrid have won four of their last five games in the league, drawing once, while Barcelona have won only twice in their last five. The European champions remain the only team that is unbeaten in the league with Madrid having already lost once, to Sevilla in a match that ended 2-1 at Estadio Ramon Sanchez on October 4.
Ibrahimovic and Messi are leading the scorers chart for Barcelona with seven goals each, while Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain top Madrid's marksmen with five goals apiece. Higuain will particularly be hoping to prove a point if given the nod to feature in the El-Classico after the Argentine striker scored the winner in the midweek Champions League win against FC Zurich.
