Avram Grant will be up against Manchester United again as he takes charge of his first game for Portsmouth tomorrow at Fratton Park after the club announced on Thursday that he will be its next manager.
The Israeli, who replaces Paul Hart after the club's poor start to the season, will be looking forward to a better start on his return against the Red Devils this time round with his previous start as Chelsea boss ending in a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford in September 2007. Grant also led the Chelsea side that bowed to United in a penalty shoot out in the UEFA Champions League final in Moscow.
He would be hoping to get a decent result from tomorrow's game with the backing of Pompey home fans.
But bottom-placed Portsmouth do not look good enough to put to test Alex Ferguson's resolve that his team will win all their remaining Premier League games following his side's 3-0 win over Everton.
However, Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has challenged his Portsmouth teammates to play their game, insisting they could pull up an upset against the champions.
"It doesn't matter who we play - if we believe we can do it, we can," the Nigeria striker told Portsmouth TV.
"I believe the players know we can do it. We've got good players, who are experienced, who know what it takes and I know we're going to dig out of it. We have to keep positive and keep working hard. We're going to give them (Manchester United) a good game and who knows, we can come out with the three points," Kanu said.
Meanwhile, Dickson Etuhu and his Fulham colleagues will host Bolton Wanderers at Craven Cottage and the Nigerian midfielder, who has been shunned by coach Shuaibu Amodu for a place in the national team, will be hoping to return to the starting line up.
Etuhu was a late substitute in the Cottagers' 3-0 home win over Blackburn Rovers midweek and the former Manchester City star will hope his club pick another three points as they look to improve on their mid-table position on the Premier League log.
