Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi has given the assurance that the Super Eagles would get the job done by beating the Harambe Stars of Kenya when the two teams play on November 14, at the Kassarani Stadium for the last World group game for the South Africa 2010 World cup.
“It’s no longer in our hands but we are confident we will get job done in Kenya,” he said.
According to Amokachi, the Super Eagles players currently in camp are all in top shape and ready for action.
“We all know what is at stake and also know that we cannot afford any mistakes when we play the Kenyans, so we are going out for victory,” he said.
Favour
Nigeria is currently two points behind group leaders Tunisia, and a victory for Tunisia would make the result in Kassarani irrelevant. However, Amockachi is optimistic that the Mambas of Mozambique have what it takes to beat the Tunisians on their home turf, more so when the team is equally seeking a place in next years’ Nations Cup in Angola.
“They are a good team and if they play the way they usually do, then the Tunisians are in big trouble,” he said.
Weather
The Super Eagles are scheduled to leave the country today for Kenya, where many people have expressed concern about the high altitude weather conditions in the country.
“We could not have camped the players for two weeks because we want them to acclimatise, even if we want to do that, their clubs would not agree to such an arrangement. We can get around the weather to play our game,” he said.
Kenya
The Kenyans have also stepped up their preparations for the match against the Super Eagles even though their chief Coach Anthony Hey still remains absent at the training. The team has already been promised the sum of $7,500 by a local brewery company if they can secure victory over Nigeria
Optimistic players
Dele Adeleye, a defender is also optimistic: “For me, anything is possible, anything is possible in football. We just have to go there and win our game and after we win our game, we will now wait to see who will qualify between Tunisia and Nigeria.”
Another defender, Chidi Odiah, told the media in Abuja that, “I will approach it in a more serious way, try to get the three points and see what happens.
“You know this is the last game and its a decision game. We just have to play and win, nothing like having a draw but grabbing the three points. The three points is the only thing that can take us through,” he said.
