Nigeria's Chinedu Obasi continued his impressive form in the German Bundesliga this season as he netted to help his club, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to a 5-1 rout of Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
The Nigeria international made it four for his modest outfit on 58 minutes after fellow striker, Vedad Ibisevic's hat-trick in the opening half had put them in a comfortable lead.
It was Obasi's third goal in six league appearances this season and his fifth in all competitions for Hoffenheim who have now jumped to the third position on the Bundesliga log.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's bid to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa may have suffered another major blow after another key player, Mikel Obi picked up an ankle injury in Chelsea's 3-1 loss to Wigan the DW Stadium on Saturday.
Reports on Chelsea website confirmed Mikel had been hit by an ankle sprain in the opening half against the lactic and had to be replaced by Juliano Belletti at the break.
The extent of the injury will be known in a few days and it is not sure whether it will keep the former Lyn Oslo player out of the October 11 world Cup qualifier against Mozambique in Abuja.
Nigeria has already lost striker Ikechukwu Uche who has been ruled out of action for six months after being injured while playing for his Spanish club, Real Zaragoza.
