In a bid to create more awareness about the FIFA U-17 World Youth Soccer Championship which Nigeria will host next month, the publicity committee headed by Bolaji Adebiyi has set up a sub-committee.
The Adebiyi led committee which is responsible for creating awareness in the print media has set up an editorial board, to compile materials for the publication of the tournament brochure, which will contain information on the organisation of the tournament, its history, the participating teams and the official fixtures. The board will also produce the tournament handbook that will showcase Nigeria’s geo-politics, geography and football history. It has also been saddled with the job of producing the local input into the media guide of the competition.
Blueprint
The sub committee is to prepare the blueprint for the workshop and seminar for the local journalists that will cover the global event. Their assignment also include the preparation of tournament venue tour by accredited journalists.
The editorial board, which was inaugurated in Abuja last week, has Olu Amadasun, Ade Somefun, Dan Ocholi, Sunleye Olaleye and Joy Idam as members. Muhammed Ismaila She, Ishaku Kigbu, Seidu Abubakar and Eniola Olakunrin.
While inaugurating the sub-committee, which has two weeks to conclude its assignments, Adebiyi charged the members to handle their duty with great care and ensure that they deliver their reports within the deadline, saying time was no longer the committee’s friend.
