Amodu says Eagles will make Nigerians proud

As the Super Eagles arrive Nairobi, Kenya today, for their all important clash against the Harambee Stars of Kenya tomorrow, their coach, Shuaibu Amodu has declared that the team will bring a result that will make Nigerians rejoice.

Decision day

The Super Eagles will have to beat the Kenyans with at least a 2-0 margin, while hoping that the Black Mambas of Mozambique will be able to defeat the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on the same day.

Speaking to NEXTSports in an interview over the phone, Amodu said he was thrilled that all the players called up for the match were able to honour the invitation:

“We are going all out for the game against Kenya so that we will gladden the hearts of Nigerians. All hope is not lost; there is still so much to fight for and the boys know that, which is very good. We want to come back with the best results.”

Divided house

Though the team’s preparation for the match has been quite shoddy, considering the fact that they barely had three days to train together, respite seems to have come their way as their Kenyan opponents are not in better position, considering the crisis that is rocking their football.

First there has been a bitter feud between two bodies: the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) and the Football Kenya Limited (FKL) as to who would organise the match against Nigeria, but the world football governing body, FIFA eventually recognised KFL.

Also German coach, Antoine Hey, boycotted training sessions this week in protest against the federation’s decision to call up Edgar Ochieng and Jamal Mohammed to join the current squad.

Blessing in disguise?

When asked if the crisis rocking the home team would in any way serve as an advantage to the Super Eagles, Amodu said:

“I am not aware of that because I cannot be here and in Kenya at the same time. That’s what you people (journalists) write but I cannot bank on that. We are going to play the Kenyans as a stiff opposition because they are our opponents and we have to discharge our duties. Whatever is going on there is not our concern.”

As at 8.10am Friday, 13th November , the Super Eagles are still in Nigeria. They will be playing at 2.00pm in Kenya tomorrow Saturday 14th November. The flight time to Nairobi is about 6 hours. Reason - Chartered plane not available ! What a mess !

According to my calculations. If Tunisia draw we only have to win by 1 goal

@Gbemiga, therein lies one of the many problems why a Nigerian should NEVER be in charge of our national team. You think if it was a proper, goal oriented foriegner that was in charge he would allow for the team to still be in Lagos by that time? By now the morons at the NFF would have known not to mess with him. Amodu, is typical Nigerian who has no self-respect. He knows that he is not there because he is competent; rather so he can help his paymasters line their pockets too. He should just shut-up. Only a miracle will see us through to SA. No matter how much the TASK FORCE promise to pay the Mozambicans, if Tunisia do turn up and win that's it. I know for a fact what was offered the SA match officials for the game against Tunisia in Abuja. The man did his own duty but our players did not do theirs! Adeleye should have been sent off or had a penalty awarded against him all in the first half. NOTHING. Yet, we did not deliver. Abegi!

if tunisia draw and we win by more than 2 goals will we qualify

i dont understand if tunisia draw and we win by more than 2 goals will we qualify

Posted by Confused on Nov 13 2009

Some one explain y we need to score 2 goals... According to my calculations Tunisia hav 11 points and we have 9 points. So if we win and they lose we are through. Our goal difference are both equal at 4 (Tunisia 7GF and 3GA and Nigeria 6GF and 2GA) so If tunisia draw and we win by one goal then dont we go ahead? What am i doing wrong

Amodu just hope and pray because right now you are on the tight corner. It will be sad if Super Eagles dont make it to the world cup.we are all praying

One word for Amodu: Enough!

If it requires you (Amodu) bribing your boys in order to keep your job, kindly do that, the boys are well-to-do as far as they are concerned, if you loose your job because of their poor performance, na you sabi. I learnt that T.B. Joshua has predicted that you will beat Kenyans 3-1 while Mozambique will beat Tunisia 2-1, hope everything happened as predicted or else, start looking for another job there, you may not need coming back home, because you may not see another job here.

I SOLIDARIZE WITH YOU. IT IS CERTAINLY A GOOD RESULT BUT A BAD PERFORMANCE
