Globacom Limited, the official sponsor of the Golden Eaglets, has concluded arrangement with the Nigeria Football Supporters Club to mobilise the residents of Lagos to cheer the team when they play in one of the semi-final matches. The FIFA U-17 World Cup semi-final matches will hold today at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, between Nigeria and Spain, while Switzerland will play against Colombia in the other semi-final match.
Globacom Limited has pledged to provide more uniforms to the supporters for their members and other fans who will be interested in appearing in the national colours of the Supporters Club.
A statement from the telecommunication company congratulated the Eaglets for their victory over Korea Republic in the quarter-final match in Calabar and urged the players to approach the match with the Spaniards with greater commitment. Globacom’s Executive Director, Human Resources, Adewale Sangowawa, said “you must win this match against Spain to be on track to fulfil your promise to Nigerians. Globacom believes you can do it and will support you to do it.”

“I don’t see Spain posing any threat to us, as it happened in 2007 when we met in the final in Korea when a key player got suspended for the final, so it is happening now; two key players will miss the semi-final so the danger in them has been removed.
I am already looking forward to Nigeria/Switzerland final. All what the team should do is get an early goal in the first 15 minutes, and if the goals didn’t come the Lagos fan should not relent in their support. This is going to be our easiest match.

Nothing but victory is what I’m expecting, but with what we have done so far in the competition it’s not an impossibility.
Our first match against the German where the Golden Eaglets came back from 3-0 to draw the match showed the character of the team. With two Spanish players out due to suspension, and the massive support from Lagos fans, the Eaglet will carry the day.

The Spanish team is an exceptional team with a good passing game. The Eaglets are equally good too, so expect a good performance on the day, and pray that we win. To win we have to tighten up our defence the way we did against the Koreans and we should not give them space to operate, any mistake at the back with the attacking potency of the Spaniards will end in a goal. So the midfield should help the defence out. Only team play, and prayer will help us against Spain.

With the team captain, Fortune Chukwudi, a rock in the defence, playing as he is doing right now, and the vision of Stanley Okoro in the midfield nothing should stop us. I want the technical bench to start Sanni Emmanuel to give extra bite to the defence; with the boy starting, victory is guaranteed.
