Eagles won't underrate Tunisia

Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu insists the Super Eagles will not underrate Tunisia on Saturday as both teams trade tackles in a top-of-the-table World Cup qualifier in Rades.

The Carthage Eagles are leading the group with six points, two points ahead of the Super Eagles and Amodu admits his team will need a victory against the North Africans in order to take control in the race for the ticket to South Africa next year.

"We can't be average, we have to rise above that and put extra effort. We want to qualify for the World Cup, but we have to take it one step at a time. We have a big goal, and it's important to break it down into smaller pieces," says the national team handler in an interview with FIFA.com.

Amodu is not taking any chances against the North Africans, who he described as capable of picking the World Cup ticket at the expense of his team, just like Angola did during the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign when the Southern African side denied Nigeria a place in Germany.

"They are a good side, we respect them a lot. I think they are also potential candidates," Amodu said.

Despite winning their last game with a 3-0 margin against Kenya at the Abuja National Stadium a fortnight ago, the Super Eagles were still not impressive against the Harambee Stars.

And Amodu has warned his men to improve on their performance and attitude if they hope to be at the World Cup next year.

"We need to concentrate on each match, every game we play is important. We can't take any opponents for granted, the players are aware that they have to show special respect to all teams," he said.

Super Eagles have the potential to win the game with great determination, full concerntration and the EAGERNESS to WIN, seeing the game as if playing the final of the WORLD CUP which they cannot endeavour to LOOSE - this attitude I feel will all the PLAYERS get their best of the GAME come Saturday - avoiding costly mistakes and complacency.

A win is all we need to be comfortable on the table to South Africa. The Carthage Eagles are a good side But I urge the Super Eagles to go all out and play this match as they have never played before in thier life. If they keep the faith and play that way, then VICTORIA ACETA. Tell the Eagles we are with them on our knees until the match will be over.UP SUPER EAGLES~ ahuu! ahuu!! ahuu!!!

A WIN AND NOTHING LESS IS WHAT THE SUPER EAGLES NEED IN THE MATCH AGAINST TUNISIA AT THE NOVEMBER 7 STADIUM. THEY SHOULD BE FOCUSED THROUGHOUT THE MATCH, WITH A HIGH SPIRIT OF WINNING TUNISIA IN THE HOME.MAY GOD GRANT THE EAGLES THE VICTORY WE NEED AT TUNIS. AMEN.

Super Eagles should just keep up their found spirit. It can lead them to places. I wish them good luck 2morrow

MY GUYS LETS BE SINCERE TO OURSELVES, IT WILL TAKE A MIRACLE FOR THE SUPER EAGLES TO BEAT TUNISIA IN THEIR HOME. IN AS MUCH AS WE WON OUR LAST MATCH AGAINST THE UN-COORDINATED KENYANS, WE WERE LACKING AT THE DEFENSE AND MID-FIELD, ATTACK WAS BASICALLY INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS. TEAM WORK IS GREATLY LACKING IN OUR TEAM. WELL WITH THE CURRENT FORM OF OUR DEAR TEAM, THE MOST I CAN HOPE FOR IS A DRAW

any one know the time off the match? nija time or european time pls

Posted by samuel oyenekan on Jun 19 2009

The eagles can do it only if they show commitment. They should be wary of the north Africans tricks.

As Tunisians we love Nigeria...we hope that the one that qualifies goes far during the finals.

men, i lv this country, but i have to be truthful. for the eagle to beat Tunisia is a miracle. tunisia is going to be another Angola. in this group i cant stick out my neck. if only we can manage a draw in their home then beat them on our soi, in case of head-head issue. today's match tels who go world cup.

Hello my friends. I'm Tunisian, I think the nigerian players are quite impressive physically and technically, but they lack the TEAM spirit. In Rades, tonight, I'm sure it will be a game of a high quality level, and my guess is Tun 1-Nig 0.

nigeria should pls win thier againt tunisia
