Power must change hands

The Holy Book said we should pray for our rulers and country, upon this premise I come to you this morning, Osalobua, Father Lord. For all things, we are asked to give thanks, so I thank you first of all for sparing the life of your son, President Musa Yar’Adua. We thank you for forgiving his sins and extending his life like Hezekiah in the Bible.

Thank you for not letting the wish of his enemies (for they are a multitude) come to pass. Father you who took him to Saudi Arabia on a presidential jet will see him back safely, for the offspring of a snake never suffer headaches. With his feet he walked to the jet (so we believe, Ministry of Information don’t tell us anything different) and with those same feet will he climb down at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja. He covered himself with airline blanket when he left, may he not be wrapped in a burial mat on his way back.

No AK47 cocked against him, whether up North or down South in the Niger Delta, shall prosper. Sickness shall no longer be the president’s portion. He shall be strong like a lion in Zion so he can handle his detractors and contractors with an iron hand.

Upon the president’s return, Osalobua na’ba, give him the revelation like Jonah inside the belly of the whale, that he must build kingly health facilities round the nation. Let him know that if Saudi Arabians can use oil money to build the hospitals he frequents like a jedi-jedi patient going to latrine, Nigeria can also build well-equipped hospitals, where he or future presidents will have the Good-luck of receiving the best medical attention. Give him the Solomonic wisdom to know that our country’s money he spends in foreign hospitals is enough to build world standard hospitals here.

Osalobua, I pray that on his way back from Saudi Arabia, may the president be struck with the thought - “If Barack Obama or Gordon Brown were to be sick, would they be flown to Germany or Saudi Arabia?” And as security operatives whisk him to Aso Rock and the trees and signposts along airport road fly by his tired eyes, may he mutter this prayer and make a vow thus - For my people, I shall build majestic and functioning hospitals mightier than King Faisal Specialist Hospital and employ well respected Nigerian medical practitioners that will attract other nations’ kings, presidents and wealthy patients whose money will be part of this country’s source of income and if I don’t build this by Easter of next year may I run out of Goodluck ... amen.

Osalobua, you are the only one that knows what will happen tomorrow, we Nigerians don’t know. Many times we have rumoured the death of our leader when it is morning yet on creation day. Per adventure you have another glorious plan for your son Musa, other than being the frail president of this tough country, may you give us the ability to respect the constitution that was drafted and adopted by Nigerians. And dear Lord, remember the son of Jonathan whom King David Mark, may not like so much. You have always admonished us your children to give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to South South what belongs to South South.

Father Lord we know that the Vice President Goodluck Jonathan is a humble servant of yours, and he wears ridiculous hats like a village palm wine tapper, but that doesn’t mean he should be denied his constitutional right if the need arises. After all, you picked King David while he was a village boy tending sheep in the deep south when he had no business being the King of Israel, but when you just could not tolerate the illness of King Saul anymore you used your infinite wisdom to pick small David over a sickly king. Use that same style for Goodluck the son of your humble servant, Jonathan, for you are the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Osalobua, the elephant has not fallen, but there are hunters already talking about dividing the meat. They are bent on ridiculing our young and fragile democracy by sidetracking the constitution with “power rotation” and “power shift” and I pray that power must change hands from these evil king makers. All the charlatans that don’t want progress in our country must die! Die! Die! Die! If they gather against the good of the general populace of this mighty nation, may you scatter them like fumigated ants.

Baba God may you blind all the devils in agbada and devourers in designer suits plotting to throw our country into darkness for selfish reasons. Until they have positive visions and come to the realisation that their past and present misconduct weakens the heart of your son Musa, let their eyes not see the light of day.

And father Lord you know that I your obedient son am from a minority group in this country, but one with you is a majority, as I pray for this country kindly give me Goodluck in every path I walk, from Esan village in Edo state to Lagos to Abuja. Amen!

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Everything that has a beginning has an end.

I thought it was the president alone that was sick I didn’t know his cabinet are even more serious than his case- mental. Isn’t it obvious that what the constitution said will only leave room for official absence. Our illegitimate president didn’t even take an approved official leave before leaving the country in the first place. You see how far we’ve gone with the rule of law. Ekweremadu have lost touch with time making a defirmative statement like that so that he can get a pat in the back when his illegitimate boss comes back. I can imagine him wagging his tail as this happens. Not that one is not sympathetic with the president, but let him not make his private problems a National issue. Nigerians also have their own truck load of problems to deal with. It also point to the fact that the criminal elements that are ruling the country are having a vice hold of things as it were. Imagine in a country of 160 million only one mediocre president who is illegitimate (he admit this himself) and still ruling from a sick bed in another country. Can’t even use his country’s medical expertise, this is tantamount to washing our dirty linen in the full glare of the whole world and telling everyone that Nigerians are sick because when the head is sick the whole body is. How would investors come? Yaradua should resign and the PDP criminals should desist from the rhetorical hogwash they’re feeding down the throat of the people. This sorts of nonsense can only happen in one country in the whole world, where people have thrown every principles in the book to the dogs including their peace and existence because of love of money and power, that country my friend is Nigeria.

It is strange how alot of pple from the (S).South feel the North is trying to deny the VP a shot at the Presidency should the President be unable to continue. Please, please, please, give the VP the presidency and lets see how weell he does. I wish him all the best.........

I cannot recall when God ever put a bad ruler over good people. Nigerians whine about bad leadership, how about bad 'peopleship?' If Akpu is bad, check the cassava! God will continue to do his will in Nigeria and no one can thwart it. If na suffer, we go suffer. There is too much hypocrisy in Nigeria leadership, especially, religious leadership, who are supposed to be the moral custodian of society. They have become the material custodians of society instead of preaching the Gospel message. The Balaams of Nigeria are the ones wreaking havoc on the populace, not the secular leaders. In His Perpetual Service!!!

Victor, Just a point of correction, Saul was not dispossessed of his kingdom because he was ill. Remember the famous words of prophet Samuel, "obedience is better than sacrifice," Saul disobeyed God and was removed from office. His later illness (mental instability) could have been brought about by his realization that God had denied him. Will Goodluck become President if Yar'Adua becomes incapacitated? If it is in God's will. But other than sentiments we harbor for people we like, what will a Goodluck presidency do for Nigeria that has not been done by another Southerner or Northerner or Easterner or whatever ner. It is all chop chop as usual. My problem with Nigeria is with the so-called Christian leaders who encourage politicians to steal money so they can pay more tithes, so that these Christian leaders can live a life of luxury. Are Christians called upon to pay tithes: No. It is a ritual that was only meant for the Jews for the upkeep of The Temple and its services. The Temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. and its significance and services went up in a cloud of dust and smoke. But our uneducated and devious religious leaders continue to fleece unlearned members of their congregation in tithes. Tithing is the most serious religious 419 I have ever come across. If you talk about stealing in the name of the Lord, it is tithing. Let the secular leaders do what they do best, which is looting our treasury, but why must religious leaders encourage them? Religious leaders need to clean their own house.

so we all pray Amen.

Victor, Sometimes we abuse prayer. It is good to pray, but most Christians think that once they pray, they have done their part, sit back, fold their hands and wait for God to perform miracles. They are hungry, but pray and refuse to cook because they want God to perform a miracle. They have no job, but do not go job-hunting because they want God to perform a miracle in their life so they can go to church and testify. They see that their neighbor is in need, pray for them but refuse to help. When they hear that that neighbor's need has been met, they go to church screaming that they are a 'prayer warrior;' they proclaim that God answered their prayer for a neighbor. Victor, the point I am trying to make is that it is good to pray, but also it is of the highest import to use our human responsibility. Look at the example of Nehemiah. When he was rebuiding the walls of Jersusalem after the Babylonian Captivity, he prayed to God for protection for the workers. But after he prayed to God, he posted armed guards along the wall perimeter, while the people were rebuilding. This does not mean that Nehemiah did not trust God, but if Nehemiah was looking for a miracle, he would just asked God to raise up the walls again without human input. God has given us commonsense, let us use it: Let us pray, but after we pray, we need to use our common sense to solve the problem. God bless you Bro Victor. May the Lord answer your prayers for our nation. Let our president(who has not died yet) truly see the need to improve our infrastructures--hospitals, roads, power, etc, so no one needs to be flown abroad for treatment. For those correcting Victor for "theological/biblical accuracies especially webevangelist, you should go and get another forum to let out your frustrations, not here and certainly not on Victor. This is a literary work and not a spiritual piece. He can dice and slice it the way he wants so long as the point he's making is understood. That is why he had the liberty of using local languages when writing in English. Or do you think he does not know the English equivalent of Osalobua? Let's grow up guys and give credit to this writer. Vic, keep up the good work!

Posted by Webevangelist on Dec 06 2009

Manny, Na wa! So, what is the Bible? A literary work or a spiritual piece. Since the Bible was originally written in a local language, would it not qualify as a literary work? What is the distinction between a literary work and a spiritual piece? Could it be that a literary work is produced by literates, and a spiritual piece by angels? I beg you, MANNY, help me understand the distinction you have so craftily dichotomized.
