>> Sunday, July 26: Bauchi - Violence breaks out. Moses Anegbode, an Assistant Inspector-General of police, said about 39 members of Boko Haram were killed in a shoot-out with police; with 176 arrested and 15 injured. A Nigerian army Lance Corporal and two policemen were killed as well.
>> Monday, July 27: Kano - The violence spread to Wudil, some 28 kilometres to the city of Kano, leaving no fewer than three persons dead and 133 arrested. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the station in the town escaped with gunshot injury.
>> Tuesday, July 28: Maiduguri - Outbreaks of violence reported in Borno and Yobe states. Police confirmed that two persons were killed during a 2am arson attack on a police station in Potiskum. Yobe security officials also confirmed the arrest of 17 people in Yola.
>> Wednesday, July 29: Abuja - President Umaru Yar’Adua meets with defence chiefs and announces, “we have the situation under control now” at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, just before he leaves for Brazil.
>> Police say it has freed tens of women and kids from the sect’s camp in Maiduguri
>> Thursday, July 30: Maiduguri - Security forces hunt door-to-door for members of the sect in Maiduguri after killing more than 100 of them by storming the sect’s compound in the early hours of the morning.
