The on-going fraud case against Olabode George and five other former members of the Nigerian Ports Authority management board, was today postponed to Tuesday, May 5 because of power failure.

At the continued trial at the Ikeja High Court, the lawyer to Bode George, Olatunji Ayanlaja, could not finish his cross-examination of the prosecution witness, Yussuf Olanrewaju Olaleye due to the erratic power supply.

The witness, who was the head of the price intelligence and due process committee and also a member of the investigation committee that deliberated on the activities of the NPA board, maintained that the board did not obtain a due process certificate before awarding contracts.

The six defendants -Olabode George, Aminu Dabo, O. Abidoye, Abdullahi Aminu Tafida, Zanna Maidaribe and Sule Aliyu- were charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 68-count charge of splitting and inflation of contract at the NPA in 2003, while they were members of the board of directors.
