My wife denied me sex for four years, man tells court

A respondent in a divorce suit in Lagos on Wednesday consented to the dissolution of his marriage, saying in tears that his wife starved him of sex for years.

Sulaimon Oloshogbo, 42, asked the Shomolu Customary Court to grant his wife’s prayer for the dissolution of their 13-year-old marriage.

Mr. Oloshogbo, who resides at 11, Apata Street, Shomolu, told the court that his wife, Fatimoh, 37, stopped having sex with him since four years ago.

“My wife’s attitude changed completely when she started moving with some divorcees on our street; she never obeys me,” said. Mr. Sulaimon, a carpenter.

He was responding to a divorce suit filed by hi wife who urged the court to dissolve the marriage, saying she was no longer interested in the relationship.

“My husband is a devil; he always beats me over a little misunderstanding. My husband smokes Indian hemp; he is also a drunkard; he beats his children with wire,” Mrs. Oloshogbo, a bread seller, said. The mother of three pleaded with the court to grant her the custody of all the children.

The Court’s president, Aromi Bajulaiye, adjourned the case till January 27, 2010 for further hearing and to allow room for possible reconciliation.

The couple, in a previous sitting, narrowly escaped detention by the court over contempt as the husband and the wife abused each other inside the courtroom during proceedings. Mr. Bajulaiye ordered their detention in a small cell in the court’s premises but the security guard to execute the order was not available.

The court’s president, however, pardoned the couple some minutes later and resumed the hearing.

I wonder how you all became judges on who should be punished or not. Who gave you people such authority, given the environment or conditions of their lives will you be any better? What will God now benefit from this divorce, how will He raise Godly seeds, what happen to the Children, how will the scars of each of the parent ever heal, how did it degenerate to this seeing they once agreed to till death? May God help us to search our hearts!

People, When you look @ a situation like this! She's been moving around with Divorcee's, She doesn't denied it. She hasn't slept with her husband in four years, No deny. If you're in a position like that, what you will do will be worst than beating the children with wire, You will even smoke more than Indian hemp, Sleep with a woman every night for four year and you can't touch here, No No No. Thats Unfair and she broke the rules of marriage :) I rest my case.

There are more men than you think who are facing this same 'suffering and smiling syndrome'.

Posted by Ominuta Austine on Oct 30 2009

Posted by Segun Balogun on Oct 30 2009

Just like her husband, she should be bold enough to either admit the man's claims or refute it.Her silence could be mistaken for for an admittance of guilt.

Posted by kk on Oct 30 2009

No doubt they need counselling, not divorce. But this sex denial thing is getting too common in marriages nowadays. Ladies it is NEVER a rememdy.

Posted by thy on Oct 30 2009

why would someone beat their partner? why would someone be with someone they dont want to have sex with? people are just weird.

Posted by kololo on Oct 31 2009

A woman cannot just stop having sex with her husband for no concrete reason, it must have has been as a result of accumulated digust or something...I wont let a weed smoking dude or a woman abuser touch me, though i dont support either parties but if it cannot work, then they are better off seperated, marriage of nowadays....not a do or die affair

hmmm just trying to look at it from both sides..the man talk say the wife's attitude begin to change after she started moving with some divorcees on their street. Are we sure that dem divorcees influence the woman so she will end up like them? If the man were such a devil hw come he no take the sex from her by force...a whole 4 years!
