Manage your oil wealth well, Venezuela urges Nigeria

Print print Email email Share Share

The Minister of Information and Communications, Dora Akunyili, yesterday got more than she bargained for when Enerique Fernando Arrundell, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Nigeria, used the opportunity of his visit to her office to tell Nigerians some hard lessons on how to manage, develop and utilise their God-given natural resources for the benefit and good of all.

The envoy, who was responding to an appeal by Mrs. Akunyili to help woo some of his country’s investors to come in and establish refineries under the federal government’s planned deregulation of the downstream sector of the nation’s petroleum industry, advised Nigeria to rather look inwards and to take full control of the industry.

Though, he acknowledged Venezuela as a prominent member of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) like Nigeria, he said his country will be willing to collaborate with the federal government to develop the industry.

The hard truth

Mr. Arrundell said, “In Venezuela, since 1999, we’ve never had a raise in fuel price. We only pay $1.02 to fill the tank. What I pay for with N12,000 here (Nigeria), in Venezuela I’ll pay N400. What is happening is simple. Our President (Hugo Chavez) decided one day to control the industry, because it belongs to the Venezuelans. If you don’t control the industry, your development will be in the hands of the foreigners.

You have to have your own country. The oil is your country’s. Sorry I am telling you this. I am giving you the experience of Venezuela. We have 12 refineries in the United States, 18,000 gas stations in the West Coast. All we are doing is in the hands of the Venezuelans.”

The envoy said, “Before 1999, we had three or four foreign companies working with us. That time they were taking 80 per cent, and giving us 20. Now, we have 90 per cent, and giving them 10. But now, we have 22 countries working with us in that condition.

It is the Venezuelan condition. You know why? It is because 60 per cent of the income goes to social programmes. That’s why we have 22,000 medical doctors assisting the people in the community. The people don’t go to the hospital; doctors go to their houses. This is because the money is handled by the Venezuelans. How come Nigeria that has more technical manpower than Venezuela, with 150 million people, and very intellectual people all around, not been able to get it right? The question is: If you are not handling your resources, how are you going to handle the country?

“So, it is important that Nigeria takes control of her resources. We have no illiterate people. We have over 17 new universities totally free. I graduated from the university without paying one cent, and take three meals every day, because we have the resources. We want the resources of the Nigerian people for the Nigerians. It is enough! It is enough, Minister!”

Government’s plea

Earlier, Mrs. Akunyili thanked the Ambassador for his visit, saying it is a demonstration of his love for the African continent, pointing out that there has always been some level of bilateral trade between the two countries, though very skeletal, as a result of the low awareness of the latent potential of Nigeria as an investor’s goldmine.

Drawing attention to the huge potential in the nation’s telecommunications sector, which is being exploited optimally by South African investors, the Minister noted: “There has been trade between the two countries actually, but we do not have many Venezuelans setting up manufacturing outfits in Nigeria. I want you to use your good office to send a message across to your people that Nigeria is a goldmine for genuine investors. We want them to come invest just as other investors are doing in the telecoms sector.”

She gave the assurance that government will give them the full cooperation, adding that President Yar’Adua’s administration is working hard to ensure that the country’s economy is taken to the next level through the initiative of the seven-point agenda and Vision 20-2020, designed to make Nigeria one of the largest economies of the world by the year 2020.

This is a very good advice not only for Nigeria's Information Minister but also for the PDP leadership. Thank you Mr. Ambassador for not dancing around issues and saying it as it is. Our leadership have turned Nigeria to a rich country of poor people. What with over 70% of the populace living on less than $1 a day.

Mr Ambassador Thank you for being Honest. Mat your days be long. Mrs Akunyili, Please take this honest truth in good faith and try to paint the same picture to our so-called leaders

May God bless u Mr Ambassador for saying it as it is. You can see our leaders are not sensitive to our plight, it's,a shame. Just hope and pray that Dora has not lost her credibility as the peoples voice.

A foreigner coming to present the true picture of Nigeria to Nigerians. Thank you Mr. Ambassador. We need more of these comments unfortunately they may be for the dumb and deaf who will never listen or take action in the right direction. Anyway, a word they say is enough for the wise.

Thank you very, very much Ambassador Enerique Fernando Arrundell, how I wish many more Ambassadors will tell our government the home truth axactly the way you have done. Our leaders think that the wealth of this country belongs to them, that is why an individual in this country will own dockyard, billion of naira, at times dollors being stacked in their foreign accounts, and houses in USA, London and South Africa. You See, you graduated from the university without paying one cent, and take three meals every day, Nigeria also has the resources to give free education to Nigerians but the selfishness of our leaders will not allow then do that. The Minister should rebrand the people in power now starting from the top and the entire called PDP. I think that is where the rebranding project should start from.

Well Done Mr. Ambassador. This is the truth and nothing but the truth. You have said it all. Those who have ears let them hear. A word is enough for the wise. And for the umpteenth time, what we need is fight against corruption and not deregulation. Our leaders have failed us for too long. Our consolation is that our God will one day ask them to give account of their stewardship no matter how long it takes.

That was hard truth told there and the right signals are been sent to the egg heads to wake up. Venezuela is a develping country like naija and they got it right in the oil & gas sector.....can you imagine filling my tank with around $2??....pure bliss I tell you. Maybe this deregulation thing is finally inevitable

Thank you Mr. Ambassador. It is shocking to know that there is a country where price of fuel is cheaper than Nigeria. One of the strongest points our leaders have been adducing in suppoer of deregulation is that petroleum products are sold for least prices in nigeria.Mrs rebranding, can u pls work assidiously to rebrand PDP before thinking of rebranding innocent and suffering masses?

Posted by TMM on Nov 24 2009

Mr Ambassador now you are in trouble. Nobody from your country would be allowed to invest in nigeria. You small rat telling Madam PDP that Oga Yar adua has no common sense. You go smell am. Just run back home and lock your doors. infact sebi na 12,000 you still dey buy am from now they would use SSS to sell it to only you at 30,000. Dora no vex, you for tell am say rebranding no reach fuel. Isnt this a shame, you had to be told this publicly, Dora!!!!!!!!!!!. But change is coming

Well, now that a foreigner has told us in the face, it may begin to dawn on us.But I'm worried, because as is often said; a fool that does not know that he's a fool, is a fool forever.Who is going to be our Hugo Chavez? Maybe we are not angry enough. May be the heat is not enough on us. But certainly, it is beginning to warm up. Someday, we shall have a ruler whose passion shall be the welfare (true welfare) of the masses of Nigeria. But shall we allow him?

All the Unity Colleges are now junks; Hajiat Dukku is now begging the Chinese to help improve our education systems; Yar'Dua is now on his way to Saudi Arabia for medical checkup; 5th time this year. IBB's wife in Calafornia for medical checkup. Millions of Nigerian women with conditions similar to IBB's wife could not even afford to go to local herbalists for cure, mush less going to the hospital. Our hospitals have turned "DEATH MOTELS". Our leaders in Abuja are purchasing hundreds of bullet proof cars, each costing 20 billion naira. Private jets parked at major and local airports like bicycles. Our teenage girls who are supposed to be in schools for better education, are now dancing stark naked at "NUDE JOINTS" all around major cities to entertain the thursts of our deranged leaders. The country has turned "Sodom and Gomorah"; Our Judges who are supposed to uphold the law, and render unbiased judgements are compromising their verdits to the highest bidders. Obasanjo, IBB, Shonekan, Barkindo, Mallam Lukman, Abubarkar, and Atiku sold out the whole country; 90% of our OIL and GAS fields are in foreign hands; OBJ owns Bell University, Bellview Arline, Transcorp Corporation, Otta Farms, and many more hidden; Most of these foreign dignitaries in Nigeria develop "CHILLS DOWN THEIR SPINES" to see all these atrocities committed by Nigerian leaders; even the wife of Greek Ambassador to Nigeria called Nigeria the Nation of thieves. We should not forget the "SONY" PS3 commercial aired Worldwide describing our sudden millionaires as thieves. Yes, yes, and yes, 90% of them are. Who is going to rescue this Nation, Kenny Martins, Bode George, Anenih, Barkindo, IBB, OBJ, Atiku, Sarakis, Madam Dukku, Obiagheli, Okonjo Eweala, Bankole, Akin Olugbade, Northern Sultanas ; Oh yes I know, our ever smiling, pretty Madam Rebrander, Doris Akunyili. JUST IN PLAIN LANGUAGE, THIS COUNTRY IS FURKED UP; CAPUT. Thank U in millions Ambassador Enrique, Fernando Arrundell, God be with you.

imagine the shame in th face of truth from an ambassador, i am sure Dora got what she wasnt prepared for, even Dora hate the truth, every member of the house of representative and all arms of government understand what the ambassador said. we have self styled elites in the right position but instead of a vision in the heart to better the lives of nigerians, all they got is MISSION to enrich their bank account in europe. there is no way a lay man on the street can understand why the price of petroleum products re extremely high in Nigeria . Nigeria is the only oil producing nation where the citizens suffer beyond description, where infractstructures remain in zero condition. may God save nigeria.

I think we altogether need to manage our penchant to be greedy and selfish. We need to manage our preference to worship anything in white skin, though we need to respect and give credit to them for the technology they bring. But let's appreciate what we have and can do. Let's always recognise and encourage our own talents and harness their potentials. Our elites in high places; the oil industry, government and formal sector should take note. Away with selfish gains. Thank you Ambassador for telling us the truth about us.

what a hard lesson to learn, it shows how we have sold our right, freedom and soul to developed nations. the earlier we start taking control of what belongs to us the better. we churn out graduates year in year out still no jobs for them, diversification has become a problem because everyone is interested in the easy money Oil brings. Agriculture which still remains a goldmine has been abandoned, the natural resources of which nigeria can account for almost 70% of the world's natural resources have been left untapped. what hope have we for the generations yet unborn. it is not how much enjoyment we have here on earth that counts but the sacrifice we make to see that we leave a lasting legacy here. This is good news for the masses of this great nation. Imagine you paying 3 times to fill your tank compared to what the ambassador pays in Venezuela, and some people are saying that is not even enough by flinging polluted deregulation to demonstrate their rulership failures. Education is free up to university level with 3 square meal; yet our own govt has killed the educaation sector. They have good roads and health facilities abound even in the homes of citizens. What a contrast for in our nation, people do not have access to good health facility - the theieving officials go abroad for medical checkups, and road are death traps. Did we hear that the resources belong to the people of Venezuela; here the resources are stolen by the corrupt rulers and one wonders what the corrupt people want to do with billions of naira. This is part of what the international community should do to help this nation from staggering poverty. Clinton kicked started it and now Venezuela has brought a new light. Good sign that one day we will get there but Nigerians wll have to mount sustained pressure to push the vampires out of the power equation so that sane people and the intellectuals can take over and lead this great nation to its rightful position in the committee of nations. God bless Nigeria and pour His judgement upon the wicked people in all facets of our national life.

Venezuela has no illiterates yet over 50% Nigeria's population are illiterates. Education is free but here quality education is obtained at very high price either in private eduational institution or abroad. Nigeria with 150 million people is rich in technical manpower and intellectuals and yet these people are not allowed access to manage our resources. This calls for people's revolution jsut as what happened in Thailand recently. Move enmass and chase the thieves out.

If fuel is as cheap as that in Venezuela why aren't Nigerians importing fuel massively from there?

Posted by Toyin Ade on Nov 24 2009

I am just happy with the hard truth that this ambassador has told us,especially the leaders in Nigeria. This is what we have been telling Dora Akunyili that she should concentrate her rebranding project on th ruling class.Nigerians have no problem with management,it is the political ruling class that need rebranding. If they can just stop stealing and giving our resources to outside collaborators and in return receiving kickbacks,Nigeria will never be developed like Venesuela. Dora Akunyili can once again put her name in gold by talking directly to her colleague Ministers,President,Vice President and very many political office holders to pls repent and turn a new leaf by stopping this exessive stealing of our money.Nigeria has more than enough resources and money to go round and make everybody comfortable but the leeches, vampires, embezzlers in government are not allowing this to happen.

Posted by Toyin Ade on Nov 24 2009

Venezuela is a success story today because their leader refused to be dictated to by the West. Continued reliance of our leaders on the West and taking all our economic theories from them have not helped us.Nigerian leaders should look inward as advised by this patriotic Ambassador that has told us the truth. All that we need to develop are right inside us.We have the skills, resources, experties. It is our government that has always been the problem.Everything that is wrong with Nigeria is traced to bad leaders among us. One should not be surprised to hear PDP megaphone lambast this Ambassador for telling us the truth. They are shameless, they may result to name calling. They may even tell the man that he cannot tell us how to run our country. Such is the level of tragedy that has befallen this country. When Hillary Clinton gave an honest advise during her recent visit; what did the rabid PDP say??? They were shouting their usual mad and warped statements. It is real sad!!!

Capitalism is said to be evil - Chief Richard Akinjide wrote a powerful article last month about the greed of capitalism. President B Obama is setting up special task force to tackle corruption in the financial sector of the US Economy. Now my submission is man is naturally selfish; capitalism in itself is good because it promotes competition. However, capitalism without guided intervention will lead to self destruction due to the greed of the man-the centre of it all. Nigerian government should sieze the opportunity of the experience of China, Venezuala, Libya to tackle corruption and implement a home grown capitalism. Then Nigerians can heave a sigh of relief from the oppressive and repressive greed inherent in unbriddled capitalism. With people like Sanusi L. Sanusi in this government, this is the path of honour expected of the Team. Deregulation of downstream sector is not the answer to the petroleum industry challenge: corruption reduction or elimination and rapid expansion of investment by Government under a PPP model.

@ kamal you should cover your face in utter shame. What opposition is being trampled and it seems you need to buy a dictionary to learn the meanings of a despot. Surely people like you benefit from the mess that is called our oil sector and you will spare nothing to shoot the messenger here. Thankfully your arrant nonesense has been drowned by well reasoned and more appropiate responses on this hometruth that the Nigeria leadership will not listen to. Thank you Next newspaper for publishing this news. Hopefully, the politicians who collect allowances to buy newspapers will read this and know how lowly they are seen by some honest foreign politicians and diplomats.

The ambassador should save his breath and allow us to hear words! Doesn't he know that before he offered his unsolicited counsel, the PDP knew where they could copy good examples? As far as we are concerned, such examples that are incapable of swelling the foreign and local bank accounts of Nigerian politicians are worse than useless. Before joining the PDP, all of us know that the orientation is never to better the lots of Nigerians. Even a governor who have already been elected in the platform of another party can still cross over! Reason: PDP presents the only platform on which an elected person can have an unfettered access to the commonwealth without having to look furtively over the shoulders for a thief catcher.Let any one of our great crowd of brainless and highly disingenuous opposition parties(with the exception of some few) cut out the ambassador's speech and use it for the next campaign if they like. Their votes will never count, I'm even ready to bet my head! In plain language, I think the Venezuelans are a moronic lot! All those monies they wasted on the masses! Couldn't these have been reasonably shared among a few party loyalists? No wonder the Forbes Magazine does not feature many of them as super billionaires!

Posted by Pat U on Nov 24 2009

@ logix. Speaking from a purely economic point of view, there is no reason Venezuela would want you to take their resources. Doing so would reduce supply, which will mean greater demand, and an accompanying greater price, which will eventually hit their citizens and the people exporting from them, not only defeating the purpose for which we expoerted from them (lower cost), but giving them more problems on their home ground. a political can of worms would also be opened up and I dont think they want any of that.

Excellent! I've always said that cheap petrol should be the right of EVERY Nigerian. Afterall what else does our government give us? The only reason why you'll fill up your tank for N400 in Venezuela is because of subsidies. Venezuela subsidises fuel in addition to providing FREE education to University level, America subsidises its farmers. Nigeria gives its citizens NOTHING.

Nigerian leaders are a disgrace to the great Nigerian intellect. They are now being lectured by people who should be learning from them. They have absolutely no shame or any sense of shame; as the Malaysian former Leader tells them to their face, only yesterday. The man was telling her why her government isn't working but she was harping on about investing in an economy the man knows and says is in shambles. How thick can get.

All I can say is thank you, Mr. Ambassador, but you have to understand unlike Venezuela, Nigerian's is full of greedy and corrupt leaders, a legacy of our colonialization from the British. The British thought us bribery and corruption, they continue to steal our resources, 80% of wealth stolen from Nigeria is used for the UK economy.

What a bitter truth? The Ambassador knows our major problems. There is no respect for the country, we have nothing we benefit from this country other than "suffering and smiling", poor governance, poor roads, epileptic power supply, fuel hike, armed robbery, Kidnapping ... I have never grown up to know free education in Nigeria, except increase in school fees, accommodation fees, fuel price, down-sizing of workers, owing staff... Imagine Dora is a minister of information and communications, what does she know in ICT? Misplacement of office and career, just Squandering our money, tarnishing our images, luring our decent ladies and girls into prostitution. In fact, this is a mishap for this country where ignorant people are employed to occupy a sensitive position just because of political reasons or whatsoever. When are going to stop family contents in National issues and move forward. Nigeria is for all and every one needs to benefit as little as it can be from National treasury, let every one have free education, get fuel as little for a common man. Several atrocities like bribery and Corruption, armed robbery, prostitution at lower level will be eradicated and the country will embrace new look instead of crying for "rebranding" without a move, glamoring on 7 points agenda without a vision of actualizing one.

Excellentöa! Bravo!! The Ambaasador Enerique Fernando Arrundell of Venezuala to Nigeria outsmartly painted and exhibited thier nation's image nicely to the world diplomatically without much grammar like our own diplomats. Though Foreign Minister and some might interpretended the ABSOLUTELY TRUTH other way round but the word has been spoken. "You can 419ing us, you Scammer Salers" that's all what the man said. Are we forgetting? NITEL have over 230 casual staff despite the Nigerian Labour and International Organization's laws regard the casualization and the conversion procedures after the six months stipulated nothing was done to these aforementioned staff even before, during and after "the privatization". We learn t that BPE and the Presidency have agreed to the laid off casual workers. Please we are using the medium to appeal to the authority to pay us our benefits. Many articles have been written and read about the politic propaganda of NITEL an asset belong to Nigeria and Nigerians, some journalists, intellectual analysts, business tycoons and different forum members have criticized and analized NITEL future, financial, SWOT in a justifiable conclusion, "write-off better best let it (NITEL) go, liqiudate the company..." Please, I am calling all Nigerians to this, to kindly look the issue in another dimension, the company belong to you and I and if eventually sold out to "demsef"how are we getting our own cake? Social infrastructures? Sorry! Not from the purse of BPE or the standing politcal parties. Most shareholders (Nigerians) have forgetten that through the "stealing by trick" of the FG by her Hypothesis formulators shares were sold to almost Nigerians by Transcorp through the Public Offers (an unexisting company owned by the Madam, Baba and others). Unfortunately or the other, I was in-house and predicted to the public that the then on-going advert was master-minded to cheat Nigerians even the video was editted more than nine times before aired but at the end the artiste (Ghetto Soldier) still abusively splashed saliva to the camera uncensored, the bad signal. During the press conference, the chairman fell twice. Till now, Madam Auditor is also the Accountant of the company auditing (NSE Chairperson chaired a company under her custody,intra-vires not ultra-vire), no shareholder or our so called activists have ever called the laid-off Transcorp to the Bar. The record breaking scam of all time, FG extorted all the citizens through Transcorp. Still yet many people are still taking about rebranding and reselling our asset without considerations after they used other competitors rediculed NITEL. Here I am today, I'm not writing an article of whatsoever. I'm just want to pleading to all reasonable Nigerians to come to our aid. I am an uneducated young man and we (NITEL CASUAL STAFF) have worked for the company for more 4 years as casual despite the NLC and ILO's law about six months stipulated casualization time. We are owed over 18months salary and the company will soon be sold again and again. How are we getting our outstandings, severance benefits and other promises BPE and the NITEL management promised us then. Not everything in 'the paper" were true. Our lawyer played us down, the verdicts was only casual that has spent 10years and above will get something. Nigerian please help!!!! As I said earlier, this memo may not highly comprehensive as expected but truly I'm an uneducated that forced myself out to write this personally. Help us. I am one of the NITEL CASUAL STAFF known among almost all the NITEL Staff as Gentle LEKAN in Lagos. What can we say again? Let me add one more thing. The crude oil being taken out to refined outside the country contain other useful by products for a lot of industries. All these by products are not accounted for. Yet it is always increase of fuel prices. In Venezuela, there has been no increase. Eventually, something will snap in this country

The Federal Gov has no business in business yet they are everywhere business is being done. Selling an oil block to a foreiner is like selling your land to them. We should learn how to make the foreiners work for us for a fee not as our bosses. If Nigeria could biuld Abuja National stadium complex, I do not see what stops her from biulding only one new refinery. The shameless people said the will refine petroleum in Sierra Leone and ship it back to Nigeria, now they are begging Venezuala to come and biuld refineris for them. Haba Nigeria. FGN should mandate each state in Nigeria to biuld one refinery and one power plant. The states can purchase crude from FGN, refine and sell to their people. This will make the Govs see less funds to looth. I will tell you where Nigeria went wrong in due course. God bless all of us

The truth nothing but the truth from the ambassador. We need to address our value system and not rebranding rotten product.

I respect your comments because you were very honest on your views. Nigeria can only be a better country if right thinking people are opportuned to be in government. We are very sad in Nigeria because politics and political offices are indeed a fraud in Nigeria.

Good words! Good words!! The Venezuelan Ambassador seems to me to be a REAL GUY. The guy had no time to read some ‘yeye’ hypocritical diplomatic address. The guy just gave it to our minister “GBAM!”. I pray God will help our generation to rise up and become passionate patriots who are ‘heaven-bent’ in making real changes, impact and difference. May we not grow up to become like some of our elders that have no business being a leader in this nation. I'm a little hopeful that the Ambassador talked to a person like Professor Akinyuli. Maybe she will wake up to her first zeal and spread some correct words to her colleagues. We all knew how passionately she served in NAFDAC.There is still hope... MAY GOD HELP US!

Humbly said Mr Ambassador. After Pres. obama, we thank you for hitting the Nigerian leadership with another pan on the head, face, e.t.c. with all hope's, they'll feel this once again. we are happy that the rest of the world know this. and its time our leaders know they are seen as vermin and slugs outside our borders. but should we applaud you all for these words before now? NO! right now? maybe. the truth is Nigeria has long been subjected to corruption both in the private and public sector. which started right from the moment the so called foreign companies, a.k.a gorrilla cartels, spelt massive/global companies, pronounced as 'vultures' got the right to do bussiness here. yes you are right about the 80/20 % thing. my God, what kind of an idiot signs that!!. now if we want to solve corruption, the US should lead the way. Yes! its alright for western companies to commit illicit acts outside their jurisdiction? e.g shell, haliburton, MTN... so you see its all over the world. without a doubt, nigerian politicians are worse than most of the rest, not because of their greed, and low level of awareness, illiteracy, or of the fact that they will pass laws to protect and violate the rights of the people at the same time, they acquire wealth at the expense of the future, no fore-sight and go to a church and mosque after that. some of them even build the damn things in their homes with the peoples money. but they are just a fraction of the people of the nation. its sad to say that the majority dont know anything even those who do are ignorant to the fact. [george orwell 1984- 'ignorance is strenght'] now Nigerians put yourself between that phrase and your leaders. i dont have to draw you guys a picture. so, is it not wrong the rest of the world brands Nigeria sunken ship. if the west wants to help solve the corruption problem, you have their data, money's, hidden accounts, alias names and accounts. interpol assist the police forces of such corrupt countries in investigating, charging and prosecuting corrupt politicians. UN back the interpol with mandate on genocide. because corruption leads to deaths totalling in millions through a period of time. it wont work? yes because corruption in the so called UN security council members puts them sailling on different ship. now who is a hypocrite?

and as for the comments on the attempts of luring foreing investors by Dora the explorer, like the name a group gave her suggest that her attempt and beliefs are based on her empirical knowledge of what her job is about through her knowledge and attempt of counterparts, tessa jowel mp, culture and tourism and 2012 london olympic commitee member, and other countries who's ministers are doing the same. she is just doing what her office is about. communicating to the outside world saying 'dont do it for them do it for the people. maybe its her own way of trying to make a difference. she is just putting in her best. it is just sad that her attempts are hindered by the actions of others in her society and of her status, even higher. she is meant to rebrand. thats means trial with the possibility of error's involved. i guess she wasn't told about that. more over am certain most of the conversation between she and the ambassador where not documented. so we all do not know what transcripted verbally between them. lets all support good efforts my people.

The truth shall set u free! I Love this ambassador. This one they will not say is misinformation like David Mark attack Hillary Clinton. The Ambassador is an insider quoting fact and figures..GOD BLESS U.

Nigeria we hail thee! A heavenly blessed nation that is being grounded and ruined by wicked leaders. Truth is bitter in their eyes and mouths, but they can't deny it. Sometimes I pity Dora Akunyili who accepted to image-make and speak for a non-performing government that full of contradictions. Pity because Dora was coming from NAFDAC were her records speak volume of achievements, but she has bought into the self-delusion of a government that lacks vision and direction and just thinks that deregulation will solve our problems. They will discover after the evil that we are made worse. If they have ears, let them listen to wise counsel from the Ambassador.

This is one of the truth that has never been said to any of our leaders and i am so glad that the ambassador of Venezuela has taken a bold step at that by telling to the face of this figure-head leaders what they need to know. It sodisappointing that this woman who effected so much change as the D.G of NAFDAC could not impact this brilliant performance of hers while she acts as a minister in Nigeria.I am beginning to believe that actions while she was the D.G of NAFDAC was for some other reasons best known to her and those who feel should be a minister. I want to believe the time for THE CHANGE is almost here if we continue to have members of other countries who will continue to talk sense to our leaders. None of these so called leaders is clean
