Minister condemns multiple taxation

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Achike Udenwa, said there is a need to streamline the multiple taxation imposed on industries by the various tiers of government if the economy must grow.

Mr. Udenwa said in a forum in Abuja on Sunday that the multiple taxation is not healthy for the nation’s economy, adding that something is being done about the problem.

“If you go to some states in this country, you may pay up to 20 levies, including levies like premises permit, emblem permit, they are so

many,” he said.
