Tradesmen, artisans embrace online advertising

The Lagos State council of tradesmen and artisans have embraced the use of the Internet as a means of attracting a wider audience and bringing their services closer to the public.

At a formal introduction to the council members by Advert Africa, an Internet advert service provider, yesterday in Lagos, the chairman of the tradesmen and artisans, Bola Sanusi, applauded the initiative and encouraged members to embrace the trend in the business world by adopting the use of the Internet facility to promote their services.

Online advertising

The Managing Director of the advert agency, Alex Shodunke, said online advertising is a new medium of advertising which brings goods and services closer to customers and helps them know where to look to get the kind of services needed and information on the provider.

“This cuts across the various works in the economy. We brought in the artisans and informal sector because they run the economy and are less recognised. Most people who need their services do usually know how to locate them especially if the people are new in the country.

With this medium individuals needing their services can know where to scout information,” he said.

Mr. Sanusi said the council was looking into encouraging its members to adopt the use of the facility to facilitate their work.

Easy medium of communication

The first vice-president of the association Nurudeen Buhari said they will ensure most of their members register and take up the initiative because they are seeing it as an easy medium of advertising and communicating with the world without much stress.

“We have looked into the idea critically and we believe we have much to gain in it. The technology will make people reach our members on time and this will also increase our income,” he said.

Mr. Shodunke said the company took the initiative of seeking out artisans to encourage them take advantage of using the Internet to promote their trade.

A member of the council James Odedeyi commended the initiative, believing the members will benefit immensely from the adoption of the Internet for advertising and sales promotion. “I am learned and have children who say much about the Internet and I have seen what they do with it.

I know most businesses abroad are also transacted through the Internet. I believe we will have more to gain by embracing the Internet. That means we will be going the way of the world and this means more progress for our businesses,” he said.

Note that.. Creativity and Professionalism, all works together, But the world we found ourself in africa, people ignore creativity and embrace professionalism, that is why you see organisation with wrong staff employee. With Tradesmen and artisans bringing their service online for advert help to promote product made in Nigeria and some other sectors. This is a great Idea that will definitely work.
