The Mercedes Benz G Class has grown over the years to become a prestigious car. It is built and designed to stand out from the crowd.

The cross country type vehicle was originally unveiled in 1979, but has been rebuilt into a vehicle that connotes class, elegance and poise. It has been specifically selected by many top chief executive officers and presidents as their car of choice. This is because of its uniqueness and consistency attributes. The Nicaraguan President uses it as an official car, while it features in the entourages of the South African, Russian and Indonesian presidents, among many other dignitaries who use the machine.

The Mercedes Benz G Class hallmark traits have been untouched with its unique boxy look. The car possesses a dual personality of rigidity for off the road performance and sleekness that offers convenience and style.

Creating a record as the longest standing Mercedes Benz model series till date, the G Class has earned itself a reputation as one of the most coveted classics of all time. It has acquired a series of awards, including the 1983's world's best off roader given by Australian Automotive magazine, "G" 2009 Superstar, given by 4 Wheel fun magazine, Classic of the Future, which it won six times and many others.

The Mercedes Benz G Class can now be ordered with one of the most powerful drive systems, among the range of other models from the Benz Brand. "G" specialists have focused a lot of attention on the car's interior to become a wonder. The Interior which has been built using premier technology, exhibits an interior dual zone climate control and "Out of this world" leather upholstery (in colours of classic red, black, grey, black piano leather, and others). The car has ergonomically optimised front seats for the driver's comfort and safety, with indirect ambient interior lighting and high tech music surround system.

Happy birthday "G"

The Mercedes Benz G Class in mid 2009, celebrated its 30th anniversary. To mark the celebration, the Benz Company decided to introduce a special limited model of the car named the Edition 30.

The Edition 30 has been designed with more of exterior styling. The car is coated with exclusive platinum black paint job, unique alloy wheels and an interior trimmed and fixed with real poplar wood.

Magna Steyr, the company that produces the G Class for Mercedes Benz, announced that the companies already signed a contract that the vehicle would remain in production until 2015. Two thousand units of the G Class have been produced worldwide, since the launch of the car in 1979.

The latest model Mercedes Benz G Class lives up to expectation. The car comes in two different models, G 500 light truck and the G55 AMG.

The G 500 features a 24-valve cylinder and a 5.0 litre V8 engine which delivers 292 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. It produces 387 pounds per foot of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Author.... do your research. The Mercedes G500 has been retired and replaced with the G550. And the G55 specs are totally wrong for 2010. Horsepower is 503 and torque is 516. Get your damn facts straight and dont quote specs from 2002. Idiot.

"Two thousand units of the G Class have been produced worldwide, since the launch of the car in 1979." This is also wrong. It's 200,000 according to a Magna Steyr news release from Feb. 2009.
