Tunde Bakare (Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly)

The will of Nigerian people have been trampled upon for too long. Right now, Nigeria is in the throes of leadership crises. This is foisted upon us by those who should know better. We know for a fact that the illness of President Yar’Adua will be resolved by God in the best interest of Nigeria. We are taking the battle to the gates of Aso villa. We are in a deep crisis but we are also in denial. Why will they hide the president from us?

Abdur-Rahman Ahmad (Chief Missionary officer, Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria)

As Islam preaches, when you see corruption in the land, when you see injustice in the land, when you see oppression in the land, the first thing for you to do is to correct it. If you are unable or incapacitated to correct it with your hand you correct it with your mouth, if you are unable to do that, the least you can do is to correct it with your mind. Nigerians are saying we will correct it with our hands. What we are doing today is not for any religion. The fight to save Nigeria is not for any religion, is not on behalf of any religion. It is not for any section of the country. It is not against any tribe or ethnic group of Nigeria. It is for the future of Nigeria.

Annkio Briggs (South South Peoples Assembly)

Goodluck Jonathan must do what Nigerians are saying that he should do. He must understand that it is not the governors that put him there. We Nigerians are calling on Jonathan today, that he should move this country forward. We are behind him. How can 150million people be behind you and you cannot make a decision?

Babatunde Ogala (member Lagos State House of Assembly)

For the past 50 years, we have been struggling to save Nigeria. For how long shall we continue? Shall we allow a cabal of hooligans to continue to hold this nation to ransom? Shall we as Nigerians hold our leaders accountable? Hold your reps responsible when you get back home. Tell them to come out of their comfort zone.

We want to tell our senior colleagues here in Abuja to do the needful. It is unimaginable that a group of ministers will threaten the acting president, he should sack them now.

Uba Sanni

We are here because there is oppression in the land, there is injustice in the land. The country has been hijacked by the cabal in our society who don’t believe in the progress of this country. They are at the verge of destroying this country today. We are not here because we are fighting anybody’s course other than the course of this country.

Uche Onyeagocha (former member of the House of Representatives)

We will not allow the governors to rule the Federal Republic of Nigeria by proxy. The governors are used to appointing sole administrators to run our local government area. We don’t want a sole administrator in Abuja. The governors know that most of them cannot be elected in the next election, that is why they want to be selected. There are many of those governors who we know ran down banks and used the money of those bans to contest elections. We will not allow that to continue.

Alaje Alaba Paul (President, Obafemi Awolowo University Students Union)

The time has come when the vampires of the economy must be evicted. For the future of Nigeria to stand, it must be a vote for a person that must count thus. Maurice Iwu must go. In the late 1970’s it was the time of Ali must go, Nigerian students stood their grounds and Ali left. As Nigerian students, we stand for truth. We are not unaware that some students have been bought over.

Najatu Mohammed

Nigeria is for all Nigerians. Nigeria is not for any section, and our only binding force is the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Anybody who chooses to shove the constitution must be charged with treason. It is for that that this cabal must be charged. We are fighting against the way Nigeria has deteriorated into an anarchichal state where the military only answers to Turai. We are not saying that we don’t want Umaru to rule, let him come out and rule. But if he cannot come out, nobody should be an invincible hand; there should not be an invincible president.

Alani Akinrinade

I thank Save Nigeria for organising this rally. It is full of young people, so people like me still have hope. We will stand on the barricade until we get to where we are going. It is a long way, we have to put everything that we have on the line, this is the way freedom and democracy have been won everywhere in the world.

Sai’da Sa’ad

We are tired of just sitting down and listen to information that I will not like to call information because obviously most of the people that give us the information on the TV don’t even have the information and we have the right to ask questions, as followers we have the right to question our leaders.
