The authority of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka has recalled its students sent home during the January 16 protest against alleged increases in tuition and accommodation fees.
A statement by the university’s Acting Registrar, Anthony Okonta, in Nsukka on Monday said that final year and post-graduate students would resume on February 10 while others would resume on the 15th.
It said all final year students would start their examinations on February 15 while other students would start theirs on the 19th.
The statement said the decision to recall the students was the outcome of the emergency meeting of the institution’s Governing Council on February 5, which also directs the returning students to present two letters of undertaking, one from their parents and another from them, promising to be of good conduct throughout their stay on the campus, as pre-conditions for re-admission.
The school also announced the suspension of students union activities on the campus, pending the full restoration of normal academic activities.
