‘Fashola probe necessary’

The six-man panel investigating allegations of financial recklessness against the governor of Lagos, Babatunde Fashola, was constituted to uphold the integrity of the legislature and the state, a lawmaker has said.

Adelabu Onibiyo, representing Alimosho 1 Constituency, made the clarification in an interview on Saturday in Lagos.

The legislature had, on February 4, inaugurated a panel to investigate Mr. Fashola’s administration.

Mr. Onibiyo said the inauguration of the panel was part of crisis management mechanism of the Assembly.

He appealed to those protesting against the action of the legislators to calm down ``as we are merely carrying out our constitutional function’’.

Mr. Onibiyo explained that during the regime of the former governor, Bola Tinubu, when issues arose, the legislature always took steps to resolve them before they degenerated.

``It is erroneous for people to believe that there were no issues between us. A lot of things happened during Tinubu’s tenure but some of these things never came out in the open.”

He said “A lot happened during Pelumi’s (Mr Joko Pelumi, former Speaker’s) impeachment, it took time before he could be removed. So its a wrong assumption to say that nothing happened. It was only well managed.’’

were you not given your own N20M? you are bunch of roges and thieves. i can bet all you are seeking for is attention and probably sitting allowance.

Go ahead and probe him but please make it more of a process. Pass the FOI bill, it will help our cause and probably show AC as different from PDP.

Probe him for probity and accountability sake. However, let the process be transparent and just. It should be aimed at uncoverring the sleaze (if any) contained in the several allegations, but not to achieve a premeditated end. While not holding brief for BRF, i speak with a high sense of conviction that the history he has made is indelible and not even the Atlantic ocean can wipe it off.

I was suprised that Fashola did not just go ahead to debunk the allegations against him in the broadcast he made on tv ..all he said was that at the right time he shall defend himself , when is the right time?

IT IS SAD TO NOTE THAT GOVERNOR FASHOLA HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ALL THE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM, INSTEAD HE GOES ABOUT BEGGING TINUBU AND OTHERS. I THINK THE ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE BUT NOTHING WILL COME OUT OF IT... WHEN MONEY EXCHANGES HANDS, THE LAW MAKERS WILL CLEAR HIM.

I am not a politicain but would suggest that you allow this man [MR FASHOLA] to do his good works. The whole world has seen his effort.Very few selfless people can do the good works he has done so far.

Mayb he did nt appease those he was s'pposed 2 and this is their way of getting back @ him. Anyway, politics is a game!!!

these pple are bunch of irresponsible set of pple. It is dere joy when the money meant 4 mercies are spent recklessly on their own selfishness. D person turning d face of lagos to a memorable place to live in is d one dey nd to probe. it is time they know dat watsoever a man sows he shall reap, whether gd or bad.

This is that stage and time when one could conclude that the politics in Lagos is a duet sang by one person. If this probe is a way of calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Then shame to the pupeteer who masterminded it and the pupets who played the script. But if the allegations are 4 real then the governor must dance naked.
