Time to go, prominent Nigerians tell Yar'Adua

Print print Email email Share Share

While the nation continues to be in the dark on the true status of President Umaru Yar’Adua’s health conditions, pressure is mounting on him to resign and hand over power to the Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan.

A group of 56 prominent Nigerians from diverse backgrounds, but mostly politicians and civil society activists, said in a strongly worded statement released to the media in Lagos and Abuja yesterday that Mr. Yar’Adua’s failing health has created a dangerous situation whereby no one is in charge of the affairs of the state.

Northern voices weigh in

Nineteen notable voices, representing each of the northern states, also weighed in through an advertised statement yesterday, saying “in the event that the president is unable to continue in office, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan should immediately be sworn in as president as provided by Section 144 of the constitution.”

The statement that has a past national chairman of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Audu Ogbe, as a signatory said the leaders were reacting to claims that subtle pressures are being mounted around the vice president that he should also resign.

“Conventions and devices as rotation are strictly non-constitutional and any attempt to becloud issues by mixing political party administrative devices would be unhelpful in the situation we find ourselves,” the nineteen northern leaders said.

The situation in Jeddah

From Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the president remains in intensive care, authoritative sources told NEXT that no one has been allowed to see Mr. Yar’Adua, except his wife, since Saturday. He is also believed to be unconscious, though the source could not say whether it is classified as a coma. Curiously, no administration official is willing to speak on the situation but NEXT gathered that under the best scenario, Mr. Yar’Adua will still require about a month of recuperation before traveling.

The prolonged absence of the president, without a constitutional hand-over to his vice president, has been the subject of debate among concerned political leaders across the parties, who believe this has left a dangerous vacuum in the leadership of the country.

Group of 56

Listing a series of important national and international assignments he has failed to attend, the Group of 56 said this has caused what they called “several loopholes in his presidential service delivery”. Among the assignments are: “the United Nations General Assembly for which a private audience had been arranged between him and President Obama for high level discussions of issues mutually beneficial to Nigeria and the United States because he was in Saudi Arabia to ‘open a university’ which was a dummy sold to cover up his treatments.”

NEXT sources claimed that members of the president’s family and some of his aides have suggested that he should be brought back to Nigeria, along with the medical staff treating him. But doctors are said to have counselled against it.

Contrary views

However, speaking strongly against the move for the president to resign, Itse Sagay, a professor of law, who is also cited as a signatory to the statement of the Group of 56, told NEXT that the basis for securing his support had nothing to do with the president’s health but on the alleged threat and pressure on the vice-president to resign.

According to him, “any other thing here is fraudulently including my name and I am strongly against the view that he be forced to resign because the constitution has a clear view to tackle that part of the agreement.

“I am certainly not of the view that he should resign. He is the best judge of his own health and that is insensitive at this point.” Mr. Sagay said.

Two civil society activists, Sam Amadi and Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, who were listed on the Group of 56, also reacted sharply in a statement, saying “as a matter of our personal ethics” they are not privy to the call for Yar’Adua’s resignation.

“We are seeing this statement for the first time here. No one has previously or at all consulted (with) either or both of us on any of the aspects of this statement including but not limited to its context, content, tone, positions, or timing. While we are not afraid to take positions, we are also unable to sign up to positions – such as this – that purport to or actively take our views for granted.”

The case against the president

The Group of 56, which parades a list of heavyweight politicians, including the former Senate president, Ken Nnamani; former speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari; and former presidential candidate, Olu Falae; insists that the president has breached constitutional procedures in the way “his health condition has necessitated several medical trips abroad (and for which) he has not transmitted to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he was proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office as required by Section 145 of the Constitution.”

Incapacity to continue in office

The group also asked President Yar’Adua, “to immediately choose the honourable option of either: resigning his office immediately, or if he is confident of his true physical condition, request the Federal Executive Council to pass a resolution pursuant to Section 144 (1) of the Constitution to the effect that the President appears incapable of discharging the functions of his office.”

It, however, faulted how the president’s incapacity has affected the full implementation of the 2009 budget because he has been unable to coordinate the management of the national economy and to preside over the Federal Executive Council in a diligent manner.

“In the circumstance, Ministers have routinely flouted the orders of the President and engaged in infighting as a direct result of the vacuum in leadership. This was recently embarrassingly exposed to the world with the series of conflicting public statements credited to the Attorney General and the Chairperson of the EFCC. This was also exposed further when the president disavowed knowledge of a memo to all foreign missions purportedly on his instructions. Furthermore, till date, ministers continue to flout the public instruction of the president that ministers who presented memos at the FEC should stay behind to brief the media,” the group states.

He has done nothing but fight for the helpless.Yes,we should advise Yaradua to do the right thing nd that is to resign and hand over to Goodluck.he should remember that the collective will of the people matters. may Obj be damned to Hell! He got us into this in the first place. BUT Turai has stolen enough money to buy many of the people who want the right thing. May all those who have stolen money never have the peace of mind or the good health to spend it. May they and the generations after them perish in indescribable pain! Yaradua, say AMEN!

The "Group of Nigerians" remind me of vultures & how sad the situation in our beloved country truly is. In decent society, the immediate concern would be for Mr. Presidents health, never mind what ones thinks of his abilities or the lack thereof. He is still our president and more importantly, a human being. And for some of the comments above, for goodness sakes, what does it tell you about yourself when you are gleefully kicking someone when he is down? Yet we claim God at every turn like we really care anything about what He cares about. Shame on us. God help Mr. President in this trying time. Amen. At the end of the day, we are responsible for the government we have if we are so lost & misguided in such simple things and thus are totally unable to resolve issues that will help elect the right people to govern.

its obvious that the president is unfit to complete his team and its rather ridiculous if at this point he begins to attend to crucial issues wit his present state of mind and health without good sense of judgment. at this juncture i implore all compatriots to commit the present situation of the country that the will of God be done.

The bell is tolling, let those in charge get ready for the swearing in of jonathan latest next week mon or tue. We do not wish yaradua death, but the truth is dat he seems to have reached a terminal point. even if he recovers, i wont advice him to continue in office because of the pressure, he will relapse into coma again, refineries are not working, no good roads, no electricity, kidnapping is rife, no development of the niger delta as promised, let someone else try the saddle. If the constitution allowed, i would have suggested that jonathan goes along with him, because the man is not courageous, he is not bold at all. make no mistake about this, the man is my uncle, but no sentiments. nigeria is greater than any individual. alternatively, lets divide this country into 6 smaller countries, then we can have the niger delta republic.

Is it a crime for a president to be sick or hospitalized? He is a human being like all of us. At such a time as this, we should be filled with sympathy for him. He is in great pains, and we are here talking about who takes over. Remember this man, Yar'adua is someone's husband, daddy, and brother. Let us put ourselves in the shoes of Yar'adua or in the shoes of his relatives. How would we feel in their shoes in this ugly circumstance?

My people: You all seem to be missing something...yes, the process has been slow or come to a complete halt in certain cases, but it is perhaps, what Nigeria has needed for a very long 40+ years. We have needed to take a deep breath and begin crawling again. It has only been in this "Go-Slow" period that we have been forced to examine ourselves, how we conduct business and see the beginnings of what might be a true democracy and a nation of laws. This period with Mr. President is needed if we must rise to be a great nation. Do you believe that with all the prayers and churches burning midnight oil in this nation, that President Yaradua is not part of the plan? I beg to differ, and ask that he complete his job as God wishes. The man is a good person, if you wish for a better Nigeria.

@ Hajya (Dr)Asabe Shehu Musa Yar'adua. Shame that you are more concerned with titles than the health of your husband; in-law or whatever. Mr Yar'adua's presidency was a fraud and an imposition of Obasanjo. In other words, he was not elected in a free and fair election, by majority of Nigerian electorates- since you need reminding. As you must agree as a good muslim, and oh..Doctoral degree holder, Mr Yar'adua is not a leader in the sense that Barrack Obama or Gordon Brown are leaders. Hajya, even in the west, where the term president was invented, heads of states are invariably referred to as Mr or Madame, especially in newspapers and magazines. Trying focusing on what's important. MR Yar'adua should resign. As both a patriotic Nigerian and someone who has quite a bit of respect for the current president, I believe he and his family should consider his health and allow him to heal at home, without the stress of running a country like Nigeria. Naija has taxing demands for its next generation of leaders, not least of all is the physical and mental strength to cope with the hurdles that come with the job. Additionally, resigning allows for a proper transition to take place. Dropping dead will not only stun the nation and tax its treasury, but it will throw our delicate democracy into disarray as the executive branch will have no time (or help) to take the reigns in the most efficient way possible.

the president of the nigeria, in come in a foreign hospital, affected with terminal doseases, the polity of the nation is heated up, opinion leaders and the masses submitting views and ideas, all is like a comedy, but very realistic, if nigeria is a country where the opinion and views of the masses is well considered and respected, the view and public opinion has clearly indicated that 90% of the masses doesnt want this president to continue as the head of the nation, but in nigeria, does public opinion and views of the masses count?, talkless of the constitution, acute sickness cant be forced under the carpet, nobody makes fires and cover the rising smokes, Northern cabbals cant revoke this sickness, but are we sure they cant force vice president to resign? lets all join our voices together to pressure for his immediate resignation, God is at work, something is gonna happen soon, Strong men of corrupt initiatives in different sector wil be suprised at what will happen, God will take them all aware, lets cross our fingers, its really getting interesting, am enjoying the episode, thanks to next, Bless nigeria.

I have just watched how leadership can transform a people. President Obama spent about 45 minutes addressing his troops at West Point, but indirectly he was challenging his nation towards a more dynamic and sustainable global future. Without being cynical, I will suggest that indeed he was a fit and healthy man. Leadership demands, amongst other desirable attributes a sound mind in a sound body. What essentially the demands from those concerned Nigerians mentioned below is just and fair: ..." Nigerian President, Umaru Yar'Adua should either resign from his job due to ill health or cause the National Assembly to determine his capability for continuing in office, a group of Nigerians said Tuesday in a public petition. The Nigerians, including former Senate president, Ken Nnamani; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari; a former presidential aspirant, Olu Falae, and Adamu Maina Waziri, said Mr. Yar'Adua should "immediately and unconditionally hand over to the Vice-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to complete the current term of office, and conduct the next general elections on the basis of the report of the electoral reform committee headed by Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais." The signatories, who also include Ayo Obe, Alani Akinrinade, John Oyegun, Abubakar Umaru, Naajatu Mohamed, Femi Falana and Uche Onyeagocha, said Mr. Yar'Adua's physical condition "has had a negative impact on his ability to discharge the functions of the highest office in our nation." ...This is, without question,I repeat fair. No doubt in my mind that their call is without rancour or ill-will. We must as a nation gear ourselves towards realism, and the achievement of the possible and attainable goals; and not forever forlonly asking the Almighty to do things for us which we, ourselves are unwilling to make efforts or sacrifice for. In running the affairs of great nations, sentiments may at times be pardonable ...but foolishness in adopting that which is real is unforgiveable. Of course i do not share the cynism or flippancy with which some of our commentators have treated this urgent crisis, but their frustration is driven by the ineptitude or selfishness of those who claim to be our leaders. This is inevitable and understandable; after 49 years living with unfulfilled dreams. So, what is the way out. I will refer to what Obama said; "We must combat corruption, and those responsible for corruption must be made accountable." " We must act out of mutual interest, mutual respect and mutual trust " if we are to go forward. That calls for a new beginning. One way, good and wise counsel suggests, is to realise our past folly and declare a national emergency and call NOW for an INTERIM NATIONAL government in which all the former and current players will voluntarily disqualify themselves and hand over to a proven and trusted group of patriots like the following: Emeka Anyoku, Christopher Kolade, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Justice Uwais, these and equally proven individuals are not scarce within our borders and beyond, however I will like to suggest that those who appear in the list above should equally out of patriotic sacrifice, also disqualify themselves. This interim government of say 9 months should devote their energies to correcting all those evident mistakes of the past, and get this nation on a fresh and renewed footing as we enter our 50th year of nationhood. Call it a civillian coup t'etat, or what you will, but i think this nation deserves nothing short of that. Buki Morgan. Colindale, London and Surulere, Lagos.

He must hand over to his next in command for that period, Simple. Now after that period, if he is better, he can resume. The people making all these noise are those vultures who are looting the economy due to the man's inaction. It is not for the love of the man himself. Please, Please Please, people should stop telling us to pray for the man. It is insulting! Are they praying for the man? Are his family members praying for the man? Is the man in love with himself? Prayers will work if the man does the right thing. GREED is the problem and prayers dont work with greed. Simple

Fellow nigerians, with the greatest desire for Mr. President's speedy recovery, it would be a clear case of stupidity on my part to take sides with those suddenly turned prayers warriors overnight, calling for national prayers when they already know what to do as if they have suddenly become more catholic than the pope. Do you realize that the VP cant do anything and the president is not in a situation to direct? My question to the lawyers is can he be impeached in the circumstances? Because right now as things stand(if the reports are correct), he is not in the position to resign and we know the FEC members will never initiate anything like the group of 56 is suggesting (selfish preservation of selves)... so lawyers please tell us the options here... lets be constructive and find a more realistic/practical solution! I salute the courage of the group who might not be saints but who in this circumstances are doing the right thing... meanwhile please note that majority of Northerners support the constitution to wit Goodluck should continue as president in accordance with the constitution and dont be fooled by the fools who call themselves Northern leaders but who are in reality parasites of the North... My position is simple, while he is attending to his health, he should hand over responsibilities to his deputy so we can save more lifes while he is away. First before I proceed what does the constitution state under a law abiding system of democracy is to follow the order of replacement if the president is incapable of discharging administrative and leadership functions due to ill health. The question is why should there be a debate is the first place as we claim to be in a democratic elected nation. The deal is in the event of absentism over a lenght period as perceived as indefinite, the vice president regardless of who should take the oath of office. Also based on the comment of "Cheif Olu Falae" with all due respect sir, i totally agree on the basis that the proper leglastive order has not been followed for president had made several trips abroad without a proper declaration to the president of the senate and the speaker of the house. To put it in plain lauguage something as to be done urgently because the nation is at a stand still with no precise rules of governance. Thanks.

Someone actually wrote that we need Yar'adua right now!! Its so funny but its either this guy is very myopic in thinking or he's outrightly a very wicked individual that doesn't love this country. In more civilised countries, its impossible to see the present situation. Its a pathetic one if I may add but I'll ask a simple question: At this point, wouldn't you say the most important thing to Mr. President would be his health? Nigeria right now has been left on the burner to cool!! The man is battling for his life and it would only be appropriate for him to face this task squarely without the distraction of a meager Nigeria!! But no, he'll prefer to ridicule the nation and die in power. I'll say simply that he's unpatriotic. What is wrong with the president isn't a mere headache, he's very sick and will continue to be. Let him resign and face his health problems without dragging Nigeria into his sick bed.

Perhaps the truth is that our soceity is rather too hypocritical. What good are any of the members of the so called "Group of Prominent Nigerians" and what exactly makes them Prominent? The fact that they have contributed to the malaise of the nation? @Madam do good, I didn't say Mr. President is wonderful. Personally, I doubt that we've really had any one in power know what to do, or more importantly, care. What I AM saying is that he is a human being and I can't say that any of the so called "Prominent" Nigerians have or will do any better. You may well find that their grouse is that he is currently blocking their ability to "chop". Else why are they behaving like vultures? More than most Nigerians, perhaps, I have much that troubles me about the state of our dear country, especially since I know how so much better things can be. I am comfortable only because of my faith in the word of God that says "Be anxious for nothing, but with prayer & suplication, make your requests known to God. And the Peace of God which passes all understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (paraphrased). The constitution they work by must have guidelines for handling the situation (where a president is unable to perform his duties by prolonged illness. Let that be what should determine. After all, it must make provision regarding how his duties are handled and at what stage he IS required to resign or be replaced. If it doesn't, then we can only add that to the endless list of things wrong with our much loved country.

I think Nigerians should stop all this noise of the president resigning based on ill health. Who among us does not have one form of ill health or the other? The question is that who is sure of his life in the next minute. Only GOD. Since 2007 when the issue of ill health of the president has been making front page news, how many Nigerians have died. Even among the purported 56 prominent and activist Nigerians who are calling for his resignation, how sure are they that they will see the light of the next day. So let us keep on praying for him. That is the best we can do, the rest is in God's hands. The great question is that even when he was not hospitalized what has he done to move the nation forward. To me, nothing tangible. He is just sitting there as a lame duck president in aso rock. That is the main issue we should address, if he cannot perform, let’s come out together and ensures he doesn’t return to power come 2011.

I beg to diasagree with the most erudite Professor Itse Sagay. Mr Yaradua may not be the best judge of is own health and the capacity to continue to lead. We cannot assume that he is of sound mind. In the last 4 months or so Yardua has failed to attend to very important state matters - not that he has done much before but his health problems have become too frequent. If he were to be of sound mind then he would understand that a country of 140 million people cannot be left adrift and rudderless while he is in and out of hospitals around the world. His sound should have made him to take the legal steps required to put Mr Goodluck in charge while he is incapacitated. I do not know of any employer in Nigeria that will allow the many days of sick leave that Mr President has had and not dismiss the ill member of staff. It is time to get things right in our dear country. It is time for the national assembly to have a vote of no confidence. Impeach him , swear in Mr Goodluck and give Mr Yaradua a chance to pay attention to his health.

The lessons in all of these? 1.) Candidates for high public office must henceforth submit a clean bill of health from at least three independent medical professionals as part of their returning documents to INEC. 2. The Office of the president should be stictly by election NOT selection. 3. Head of INEC to supervised the presidential election as an ad hoc assignment should be a retired justices of the supreme court whose appointment should be confirmed by a two third majority of the sitting supreme court justices and must not report to the president. 4. Option A4 should be adopted for elections to executive public offices and result announced at the polling booth. 5. Henceforth no sitting president should be flown abroad for medical treatment. 6. Alternate parties should strengthen up and anyone 'crossing carpet' after being elected should relinquish the office. Whatever we do please remember that Nigeria is bigger than anyone person or group of persons less than 150million plus. Nigeria will outlive all of us no matter our stations in life.

I COULD HAVE LOVE HIM TO FINISH HIS TENURE SO THAT PEACE WILL REIGN IN THE COUNTRY, BUT IF THIS IS HOW GOD IS GOING TO RESCUE NIGERIA LET IT BE.

great and good leaders take the bow when they feel they cant go on,no not in nigeria ,ours they are asking the healthy to resign .what a country we have .some people believe it their right to rule this nation and others must listen to them ,im increasingly feeling sorry ,for this country ,where our leaders thinks with their feet instead of using their head.daily we see looting mismanagement of fund ,thugery ,political asasinationations, etc nothin work ,one step forward 24 backward

Yes,yar adua should honourably step aside.but as some have rightly pointed out, african rulers do not relinquish power voluntarily and even if against the odds this sick fella is willing to do the unthinkable will the cabal surrounding him who stand to loose out from such move not try their utmost to thwart it?

Posted by PDP STRONGMAN on Dec 02 2009

If Yar adua did not win 2007 election, who won?Buhari?Lol

Posted by Johnny from Canada on Dec 02 2009

The only explaination for not resigning is what is holding Nigeria back from developing, (GREED) Greed for power and Greed for everything.

Posted by Sammy Joshua on Dec 02 2009

IT IS A PITTIFUL SITUATUATION HOWEVER, YAR'ADUWA KEEP ON KEEPING ON IN POWER TILL ... DO US PART. THOUGH WE LOVE YOU ANYWAY.

I CAN SENSE THAT REVIVAL IS STANDING BY THE DOOR POST OF NIGERIA. LIFE IS PRECIOUS, EVEN THAT OF YOUR ENEMY. SO, WE PRAY FOR OUR PRESIDENT, MAY GOD HEAL YOU ACCORDING TO HIS PLAN.LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA NEEDS RESTRUCTURING NOT BY MAN BUT BY GOD HIMSELF. WE WANT TO BE FREE FROM THE LEADERSHIP OF A SINGLE SYNDICATE SINCE INDEPENDENCE.

Mr. President should borrow a leave from the adviser to the lagos state governor, who resigns on health ground. Small men can also learn from smaller men. I think his life is more important under this circumstance. You love your family, I believe!

i pray for him as a person to get well but he should pls take a bow

Posted by iyke ugorji on Dec 02 2009

We should all pray for his recovery, and leave the issue of his resignation till he comes back. This,i feel, is what should be in our hearts should we be in this situation. At the end , he should be patriotic to take a decision a reasonable man should expect him to take.

Brother and Sisters, and Fellow Countrymen and Women,This the height of an overall quagmire in the nation; I have noted this long ago in one of my article to the Nigeriansinamerica.com, and its a fact that things are being hidden in the faces of intelligent Nigerians here and there, taking us for granted, and being made to serve as anthelop in the darkened forest. This is the Irony of things. He should gladly handover his office to the VP if he really want to do the nation good, and abide by the letters of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.Frankly enough, the ailing health of Mr. President has realy contributed to his inability to discharge his duties as the holder of the highest office in our nation. What we fail to understand is that his cabinet comprises of people that are not commited, inexperienced and they lack the knowledge of good management. This is why we are experiencing these lapses. A good example of the political test tube of the PDP pawn to further decieve the people of Niger Delta in the person of Good Luck Jonathan; the Man is another disappointed to the Niger delta people. He is one of Mr. President's cabinet and as such he should go when the President leaves or hand over offices. The rumor that he has been asked to resign or reliquish his position may be true, because in terms of governance, that guy is unfit to lead the Nigerian people. A man whose name appeared on the pinacea of mobs bosses supporting the highest blood oil in the Niger Delta region of the area.In the light of the above, let me also I sincerely feel for our president, his family and Nigeria as a whole in this period. I pray also that God in his infinite grace will see our president through the health challenges confronting him currently. However painful as this may sound, the presiident health as it stands cannot not cope with the rigours of confronting the national problems bedeviling the nation. Mr. president knew this but refuses to accept when he was hand pick by Obasanjo to run this nation. we all can recall that members of his party from the North were even challenging his nomination or is it appiontment on this same health ground, and i could still recall the president challenging those rumour mongers/doubting thomases to a 12 round of squash!!! The Big question is, have Nigerians been fulled for long by the PDP failed government that produced sick old dummy? Now that the situation is not the same, Mr. President should do the honourable thing and resign!! so that he can spend the rest of his life in tranquility with his family. Nigeria problems alone is enough to turn a healthy man into a sick creature overnight. Outside this, any person who advices the President against resignation at this point in time, is obviously out to harm the immediate family of the President by denying them thier beloved bread winner...This is the qualms so far.

Ah, Nigerians! That's why this country is sinking! What has prayer for Yar Adua got to do with this? I have never seen a group of people so gullibly and blindingly religious. I strongly believe that we are a mirror of the leaders we get and truly deserve! The Babangidas, Abachas, Yar Aduas and Obasanjos are the kind of leaders that fit us. By the way, have we once thought why that evil snake called Obasanjo imposed Yar Adua on us with nobody lifting a finger? I am sure no country on earth would have accepted such a walking corpse to become the President. Nigeria is a moribond nation, I swear!

IT IS WELL WITH NIGERIA! AMEN

Posted by Folajimi Gold on Dec 03 2009

Why are people so deceitful? We all know that the president's poor health means nothing to him so long he dies as a president of Nigeria. How can he resign and lose his entiltlement for free medical treatment paid for by Nigerians? No bi so my brothers and sisters.

Posted by Oyo Mayan on Dec 03 2009

Why dont we take the beam off Obj for a little while and focus on the issue at hand? What OBJ did with Aso rock was exactly what Tinubu did in Lagos and nobody is calling for his head because Fashola stepped up beyond expectation or imagination. I am sure Yar Adu'a (God rest his soul in the intensive care) will hang on for state burial etc because really, he does not care whether we sink or float!

Posted by Austin on Dec 03 2009

Since Nigeria is our father land ,We can't do without it! so let us come together in prayer for God to help us ,it is well with Nigeria in Jesus Name (Amen).

can we remember "umaru are you dead* in that insolent Yoruba accent of his...Obasanjo is to blame for forcing a sick president on us..may he pay for his actions in this life... i guess its time for us to all exercise our rites to vote at the next election or they will actually place a dead man to rule us o. As for yar adua...i have no pity for him if he wont do what is right. After-all he has placed his daughters in state houses, set his wife up as proxy president, he is going to get a state burial what more can a man ask for???

Posted by Morning on Dec 03 2009

Mr President i wish u well. The issue here is simple. U can't continue on that sit and expect Good health as it is. U either resign and allow Gudluck 2 Continue or Push forcefully for electoral reforms. In sha Allah when u side with the people, Good health shall be ur's. My brothers in the North, If we can survive OBJ. Godluck can't be as bad as OBJ. May Allah Bless Nigeria with a Good leader! Shikenan!!

I wish our president well and best of luck, we wish Allah to get you back home as you left if that is the best for Nigeria and your life. But I support the issue said that our president has to leave that sitting for another for his health and Nigerians; but I am not in fully support of GUDLUCK. What I see that we are to prepare for another election. May Allah help us all. I want my brothers in West and North be in support of this opinion. Thanks.

Even if he died in office we would have the same administration!

Posted by GP Martins on Dec 12 2009

I think we should not pray for the downfall of the president, although he is ill and unable to perform his duties, think if you were in his shoe will you have suggested that you should resign? We should take it kindly with him till when God say he is going. for now vice president should perform the duty of the president, cos i think that is one of the reasons why the seat of the vice president is there. Therefore incase the president finaly give up no one should tell the vice president to resign cos as soon as the president is no more the vice president takes over the seat of the president. So my great Nigerian let us remove the shame that we put on this country's face cos its not right. We made a pledge that we will uphold the Honour and Glory of this Nation but people are putting this country in mod. Imagine people take Nigerian to be fraudsters, why? cos this is what some citizens of this country have been doing. decieving people, using women picture to entice people of other country's, please my fellow Nigerian we should put a halt to all the nefarious activities cos its not of good to the country, and moreso EFCC, police and other forces should take a stand and do what they surppose to do at the right time. We should stop crucifying Mr. president for not performing his duties cos everyone of us knows he is not ok, and moreover we should perform our own duty by giving the dignity, honour and glory that we owe this our great nation to her and as we do that the negative face of this country abraod will turn t a pssitive one.
