Adamu Umar, the Niger State Permanent Secretary for Youth and Strategy, was kidnapped on Sunday night along Dikko-Minna road, his wife, Maimuna Umar, has said.
Mrs. Umar told newsmen in Minna that her husband called on his mobile phone at about 9.00 pm on Sunday to say he had been kidnapped by a six-man gang on his way from Zaria to Minna.
According to her, the kidnappers asked her to bring N30 million for his release and that she would be receiving instructions on where the money should be deposited.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Oguche, confirmed the story and said the police were investigating the incident.
The Commissioner for Information, Aliyu Barau, also confirmed the story but declined further comments. In July, a mother and her daughter were kidnapped in Minna, though they were later released
