Bankole denies buying 18 bulletproof cars

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and his deputy, Usman Nafada have denied purchasing fresh bulletproof vehicles. A national newspaper, at the weekend, reported that the two presiding officers bought bulletproof vehicles. However, in a statement on Sunday, the Speaker’s spokesperson, Ebomhiana Musa denied the report, saying the matter has been settled since last year.

“We wish to state unequivocally that there is no iota of truth in the story, rather it was a figment of imagination of the writers aimed at smearing the good reputation of the person and office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole,” the release said.

“The story was nothing but a rehash of a story published by two Lagos based newspapers on November 2, 2008 over a year ago and the House through Ita Enang, the chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business on the same day address a press conference refuting the story as baseless.

The rebuttal was promptly published and aired on Monday, November 3, 2008.”

Wait wait wait. Bankole was supposed to represent the youth and bring freshness to the House of Assembly but in the two years he's spent there, what has he done?

Posted by ijay on Nov 09 2009

I hope that this is the real story. Some of us are tired of hearing about reckless, unnecessary, selfish and stupid spendings when there are more important things to do with money. Is this the way they want to spend the excess fund they will make from removal of fuel subsidy abi?

EFCC INVESTIGATE.

Posted by Erus on Nov 09 2009

ok, but hope you bought a bulletproof vest and shirt too not only vehicles. protecting your self from what?

Before the House of Representatives pass the Immunity Law the EFCC should investigate the allegation. The House itself should investigate and find out if Dimeji is not worse than Patricia Etteh.

How many bulletproof vehicles does he have and how did he buy them. All those guys in the national assembly do not mind anything apart from their pockets. The vehicles would have been given to them by those corrupt people whose probe reports have been shreaded by Bankole and his corrupt colleagues in the House. Since those guys got there how many laws have they passed. What have been their added value except to make noise when they want settlements. All they are interested is to pursue equally corrupt executives in the name of nonsense probes to get settled and buy them bullet-proof vehicles as was done to Madam Waziri. They cannot escape the judgement of God, and good enough the Pertecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has decreed that all those who are clogs in the wheel of progress in this great country of ours should be killed by God - which I inteprete to mean judged by the Almighty God. Of course people like Bankole and Nafada cannot escape that judgement which may be visited on them through the people. Time is certainly running out on them.

don’t take this demeji Bankole or is it BANK OLE! A young man that is supposed to champion the cause the masses, he is busy accumulating stupendous wealth. We have not forgotten how the PAN cars scandal was swept under the carpet. He was busy the other day reeling out the amount collected by Niger delta governors without results. What of the ones mal appropriated by him and his co officers. Amount of the 18 bullet proof cars can take care of several kilometers of roads, drill several boreholes for clean water, and equip one or two hospitals. Keep on buying the cars by the time you leave office in 2011, you will join me to spend hours on BENIN-ORE road, LAGOS-ABEOKUTA roads and several other failed roads.

I enjoy reading Next Newspaper but I would like to see more and more vendors display Next the way they do to other front- line newspapers in the country. The newspaper is rich in content and its management should not allow some vendors to hide it from the public

Mr Dimeji "iota-of-truth" Bankole, why can't you simply tell us how many bullet-proof vehicles you bought instrad of playing to the gallery. It is quite obvious that the young man has something to hide. No wonder the House of Reps will not pass the Freedom of Information Bill.

Sometimes you sit down and start to think about the country called Nigeria where maximum number of the population are struggling in that hot sun to make ends meet and some recalcitrant opportunist like conscienceless DEMEJI BANKOLE (who swim in fleet of BULLET PROOF VEHICLES totalling 18 at the rate of N85m per one) who knows the pain and anguish an average Nigerian graduate goes through to get a job and can't even find one and most of them turn around to either be Okada rider(like me) before I traveled or become a bus conductor. What kind of example are you setting? How much money can Bankole spend at a time or how many of those vehicles can he enter at the same time? Bankole is now competing with the Prez on the number of cars he shd have in his convoy. This is the problem with African Leaders. When they go into govt, they are looking at how much money can they make out of it rather than how can I bring good life to my fellow countrymen which will be a lasting lagacy. Prof. Ambrose Alli is dead today, but his legacy lives on. That University alone has employed a number of people who are able to feed their family as a result. The Man died without a dime in his acct but today I am very sure he is in Heaven. Look at Fashola in Lagos State, his handwork and good intentions for his people reveberate in the whole of USA. Just ask Prez Clinton. Prez Obama's annual salary is $400,000(gross) but he is the most powerful man in the world. When are you guys going to learn? People like you and a lot of other members of your PDP cult that have defrauded Nigerians of their equitable share of our Natural Resources as well those money(taxes) from those bus drivers and Okada rides as well as other hard working Nigerians that trickle up for your profligacy will ALL BE BURIED FACE DOWN. I can pick up my phone anywhere in the world and call my Senator or Rep and they will answer me and solve my problems for me without knowing who I am but for you Nigerian Politicians who sees yourselves as the Pharisees in the Bible will incure the wrath of God except if you start to change your ways and start to serve the people who elected you if actually they did.
