The mother of the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Gloria Odoh, who was kidnapped last Thursday at Ezi-Ukehe village, Igboetiti Local Government Area, has regained her freedom.
A family source told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Monday that the
62-year-old woman was released in the morning of Sunday, October 25, after some negotiations with the kidnappers.
Although the source, who preferred anonymity, could not say if any ransom was paid, he said the woman was taken on a motorcycle at a spot near the 9th Mile Motor Park, where she boarded a vehicle back to Ezi-Ukehe.
Following the kidnap, the wedding ceremony of the woman's daughter, Ijeoma Odoh, scheduled for last Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Asata-Enugu, was cancelled.
Efforts to get the comments of the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, on the development were futile, as the phone calls were not answered.
