MEND rejects FG's amnesty offer and continues devastating attacks on oil facilities in the Delta region.

MEND commences Hurricane Moses

In what might very well be the onset of its proposed Hurricane Moses, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) continued its attack on oil facilities in the Niger Delta with an alleged attack on Shell and Agip facililties in Bayelsa State this morning.

In a statement to NEXT, MEND spokesperson Jomo Gbomo, said "the plague of sabotage had descended heavily on major Shell and Agip crude trunk lines at about 0200 and 0230 hrs today, Wednesday, July 8, 2009."

He said all the JTF's statements claiming to be in control of the the situation in the Niger Delta were lies. The lies, he said, were meant to justify the huge funds that the federal government had placed at the disposal of the military outfit.

While saying their group had received reports of pertinent militants "languishing in detention," Mr. Gbomo predicted a fatal end for those who had accepted the federal government's amnesty offer.

The full statement from Mr. Gbomo appears below:

"utterly destroy them...make no covenant with them, and show no mercy to them - Moses

The plague of sabotage descended heavily on major Shell and Agip crude trunk lines in Bayelsa state at about 0200 and 0230 Hrs today, Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

The Agip pipeline which connects the Agip Brass terminal was sabotaged at Nembe creek while the Shell Nembe creek line was done at Asawo village, all in Bayelsa state.

For the JTF to claim it had secured the chemical tanker Sichem Peace when the vessel was allowed to go immediately after the arrest of six crew members is the height of deceit meant to bolster fading confidence by Abuja in spite of the billions of naira put into the impotent outfit.

The JTF has arrested two repentant armed youths who approached them to take advantage of the government's amnesty offer. We are learning that there are about eleven of such cases currently languishing in detention inside the JTF headquarters in Warri.

Considering its antecedent of being the judge and executioner, we wonder the fate of the repentant youths.

We now understand that the reason the JTF are holding the traditional monarch of Egbema kingdom is because he is suspected of providing "black magic" to militants. If proven to be true, this is the most ridiculous reason for an abduction we have ever heard.

gbomo will soon understand what it means to battle after oct, 4th.

Adeka, you make me laugh! So you still have faith in this lie called Nigeria? Ha ha ha! Where is the promise of power and others? MEND has said they will not fight a battle of confrontation because they are guerrilla fighters, so come Oct 4, your hopes of an epic battle will be dashed as the NEPA I am sure is not available. But except the govt addresses the root issues then expect to relocate to Ghana where the minister of petroleum just annouced they will not make Nigerias mistake of not making the oil communities stake holders

Adeka, you are an idiot. What do you think will happen after oct 4th? What happened b4 the amnesty? The way the JTF sounded, I thought they've eliminated all the militants. Is'nt it clear to you that the JTF were busy killing innocent women and children in their houses while avoiding the dangerous creeks were the militants hold sway? From adaka boro, to ken soro wiwa, to asari dokubo, to henry okah, and now to tompolo is'nt obvious that this problem cannot be solved by intimidation?Even if jomo gbomo is killed, more will arise. We give lame excuse that it's corruption. Is Nigeria not corrupt when Abuja was developed with the money from 9ja delta? Hurricane piper alpha has graduated to hurricane moses. It will soon turn to hurricane osama bn laden when people will turn to suicide bombing. The we will see where Nigeria will get the resources and the expertise to cumb the problem. For your information, it costs an average of $20billion annually to secure one state against suicide bombing(CIA Report 2007).I wonder where Nigeria will get such money if the situation ia allowed to degenerate to that level. We are watching the scenario which is becoming more interesting

Until people like Adeka change their reasoning, the 9ja Delta would continue 2 see strife. May God help us all.

Justice and fairplay are the solution. Let the leadership awake from slumber before we are all consumed.

You guys should take it easy, Adeka is entitled to his own opinion just like you all are...

The government should listen to the voice of the masses 'JTF is not the solution to the niger delta problem'. Posterity will surely judge them in time to come if the they refuse to listen.

IN the place where I come from, it's said that only somone who hasn't seen war that would wish for one. Don't wish for war; it's much more worse than what you see in American movies. Maybe, you should seek lessons from our Igbo compatriots who were fortunate (or perhaps unfortunate) to witness the last Nigeria Civil War.

Nigeria reminds me of 2 siblings, one bigger and stronger than the other - takes a loaf of bread from his hungry younger brother. The weaker and younger brother begins to cry as he feels cheated. Rather than give him back his bread, the older brother begins to attack him physically with slaps, kicks and blows. What do you think will be the overall outcome of this act? Our people say in Eastern Nigeria - An elder who is holding up what belongs to a kid, when his arm gets tired, he will bring it down. Let the people cry, who feel shortchanged.Thats only natural. MEND you are an example to all docile people all over that country. Biafra was suppresed yesterday, today its MEND, Who is next tomorrow?

Prince Eweka, your royal ass hole. There is a time for war and a time for peace. Dont start soundiing as if war is totally bad. Sometimes there must be war before peace. In Nigeria t is coming to that. Why should we be afraid and that is what the government is counting on to perpetuate injustice

Let's embrace peace,to avert the shedding of innocent blood/lives. Both sides of these conflict should take a second and critical look at the problem for an amicable but urgent resoltion.
