The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has said the military operation in the Niger Delta region is aimed at restoring peace in the region.
Mr. Bankole, speaking at the airport on his way to Abuja on Wednesday, described the operation as merely a peace-keeping one.
"As far as I am concerned, it is a peace-keeping option, which is going on in the Niger Delta," he said.
Commenting on the 10 per cent cut in the basic salary of senators, Bankole said the House had aligned its position with that of the Senate.
