Queen of AMBO
After three gruelling weeks of action and drama, 23-year-old Ivie Aviomoh Okujaye from Kaduna emerged winner of Amstel Malta Box Office 5, at a colourful closing ceremony which took place at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.
Okujaye emerged winner after beating runners-up, Shade Olowu and Ovie Atori, to the star prize.
With the win, the University of Abuja undergraduate becomes N2.5 million richer, as well as the proud owner of a brand new Honda City car. Of course, she will also play the lead role in a Nollywood flick to be produced by Amstel Malta.
Musicians battle cyber-crime
As part of efforts aimed at providing a credible response to the challenge of cyber-crime (popularly referred to as ‘yahoo-yahoo’), Microsoft and Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN) have partnered to launch an anti-cybercrime musical collaboration that will become Nigeria’s unofficial anthem in the electronic media and across the Internet.
According to a press release by project initiator, Ohimai Godwin Amaize, a Microsoft Internet Safety, Security and Privacy Initiative for Nigeria (MISSPIN) ambassador under the supervision of Paradigm Initiative, the song will be produced by Cobhams Asuquo and feature Banky W, Omawumi, Modele, Rooftop MCs, Bez and MI.
The MISSPIN campaign is premised on Microsoft’s resolve to redirect the energies of young Nigerians from cyber-crime towards productive alternatives on the Internet, while ensuring a safer and more secure cyberspace in a world of increasing cyber insecurity. The precursor of the B.L.I.N.G. (an acronym for Brilliant Legitimate Inspired Nigerian Great) strategy was the launch of the MISSPIN campaign, on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at a red carpet event hosted in Lagos. At this event, Microsoft Nigeria and PIN inducted 24 young Nigerians as ambassadors.
The musicians will begin recording the much anticipated song today in Lagos.
