Farafina Trust, a not-for-profit organisation established by writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Muthar Bakare of Kachifo Limited, has called for applications for a three-day editors' workshop holding next year in Lagos, Nigeria.
The workshop scheduled for March 15 to 17 will be facilitated by Ellah Allfrey, the former Senior Editor at Jonathan Cape, a subsidiary of the UK-based Random House Group.
Only editors currently employed in publishing houses in Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya are eligible to apply. Interested applicants are to send an e-mail with the subject "Editors' Workshop Application" to farafina@kachifo.com.
The body of the mail should contain the following information: the editor's personal CV, information on the applicant's organisation and the work you do, and a brief paragraph about what the applicant expects from the course.
The guidelines specifically require all material to be pasted or written in the body of the e-mail. No attachments are to be included in the mail.
Allfrey, the workshop facilitator, has been involved in editing novels by the likes of Ian McEwan, Marie Phillips, Segun Afolabi, Patrick Wilmot, Biyi Bandele and Ben Shephard. Applications for the event are open till February 8, 2010. Selected applicants will be notified by March 1, 2010.
